Author Talk: Light Novels

[Motsu]

I've read all the volumes of the light novel (1 to 11.75). I wasn't expecting of reading it because I wasn't interested. It was after this December that I decided to read the novel to see what the fuss was all about. Nonetheless, it was more than what I expected. A masterpiece! At first, there was just too much reading... Just kidding, its a light novel, Sherlock, of course it's all reading.

I really loved the details (almost every single action and thoughts were portayed in special ways. Shout out to the 1 vs 4 :) ), character development (especially the Summer Arc), foreshadowing (really makes you delve unto theories on what would happen next. I had a lot of fun guessing the story from the informations), and the plot (magnificent). The LN is lit, go and read it!

I think the next LN to recommend would be the bible book(Monogatari) or Oregairu(forgot the name). So yeah, you don't have to read them. They have their animes after all, but you miss out the fun part of reading.

 

[Motsu]

Just went ahead and explored Grimgar for 3 hours. It is a shame the translations are still on Volume 15. Unlike many others, Grimgar really shows the realistic situations anyone faces when someone exists in a world where monsters and magic exist. The characters are working their best to live by every day which shows an implication of real-life adults scraping by and endlessly living in a cycle of working. They're pessimistic about themselves and cope with their flaws to live by killing monsters.

Reading the novels was very interesting. The pain you feel progresses as you read the story sentence-by-sentence. The psychology of the main character is shown very well, and details beyond every fight are smoothly descriptive that it takes 50 pages. And with the approach the story takes, you become tempted to know what will happen next. Despite not having a second season, you can truly say this is an impressive take on a realistic isekai story.

EDIT: Just noticed that the 16 and 17 are actually translated. Hmm, time to read!
