As an author, which character would you want to possess if you transmigrated into your fiction?

The obvious answer would be the main character, Moriya. But I don't want to have all the responsibilities that come with being Queen of an entire nation.

I think saying I'd be a random NPC might be too much of a cop-out answer, so... maybe I would be Shion. We have some character traits in common already, and he has a very cushy life all things considered. But if I had more say in the matter, I would be an unnamed background noblewoman with an easy life.

I mean, at a glance, the obvious answer is the protagonist, but I honestly don't know if I could mentally handle the crap I put him through, so I think I'll actually go with his uncle, Reiji.

He's still relatively young, he's got good relationships with everyone, he's got two potential love interests, and he's also just terrifyingly strong. While he didn't fight the main antagonist of the first arc, he did capture his closest subordinate, who's much more dangerous thanks to her abilities. And, if I chose him, I could be lazy, but look really wise without trying, and he's rich, so I'd have it made.

I would choose the female lead in my first novel, Florentia. Only because I want to be with the male lead so much. I would probably regret it when I realize that my pain tolerance is way too weak to handle sex with him. But that's the risk I'm willing to take. ?

And of course, there is the fact that she suffers from abusive father, so there are many scenes that I really don't like to experience. But what the heck, I'm ready to suffer to have my dream man. ?

My male main character Hollow! I designed him to be the coolest character I've ever seen. His deep link with the Abyss allow him to have extremely awesome abilities. He is so battle hardened and oriented, a complete genius when it comes to erasing enemies. The abilities I gave him were crafted for my own taste.

Sure, having to experience the infinite Abyssal hunger for centuries kinda sucks. But... It'd be so cool nonetheless. (Let's just ignore the part of the curse that forces to eat people ?)
Once he gets humanized the hunger and need is gone though.

Now, the arc of the story would definitely change a lot though, since he has to learn to love, while I already love all of the characters around his life so I wonder how would that end up with such a radical change in perspective.

Heh, you people are all amateurs... pathetic!

I don't even have to ask myself that question because when I started writing, I was such a moronic ? that I self-inserted myself into the story.
I didn't think I'd ever have a few people reading my story, so I didn't consider the repercussions.

Nobody ❤️ none of my characters have easy lives. I'm the cruel creator god that makes them suffer. I refuse to participate in my own world.

Anna, I mean why wouldn't I want to be an invincible, immortal, with super strength, speed, and a bunch of cool eyes and tentacles I can summon from a dream world?

Holly, I guess. All she has to do is go to college and play soccer. Being anyone from one of my fantasy adventure stories would be terrifying.

An Author Transmigrates into Her/His Fiction

This is my 1001st message. My question may seem strange, but it has become a mainstream fiction plot.

Imagine you, as an author, have finished your fiction. Then, one night, while you sleep, your consciousness fades, and you travel to another world. Specifically, you transmigrate into your fiction.

If this scenario were to happen:
  1. Which character would you want to possess?
  2. Why did you choose that character?

I'm Eldoria. I don't need to transmigrate into anyone, because I was the world that was writing my story. I was the world that loved too much before I was broken...
I think I will drop a small spoiler: I would be one of the main character’s clones, because he is the one most loved by the Goddess.

Gotta be Yuen Fu, one of the MC's disciples. Why? He got awesome powers, a harem, and a very broken cheat. However, the downsides were that he had a fair amount of trauma, had a tendency to end up crippled from overexertion of powers, and died too often.

And no, I am also not a masochist, I swear...

It just turned out that everyone from my novel had trauma, and Yuen Fu had the least painful life among the main cast. And being a side character isn't an option, because I will definitely die, be abused, and enslaved in that order, either from knowing too much about the future, being smote by a Supreme Being, or targeted by Lost Gods.

I only realized now I might be writing a grimdark story.

I'd take any of my OCs in my fan-fiction.

But if that doesn't count, then I'd take the protag on my upcoming book "Frima Kausa".

- Has good progression
- Literally taken from part of me

Hmm. Let's run with a variation that works better in my head: A character in my story is going to have memories of a past life awaken, which will be memories of me. Meaning they already are the future of myself, just neither they nor I know it until this moment. So the 'I' of now would merge with my sense of 'I' as that character, to make a new 'I'.

Edit: to be clear, this eliminates any ethical issues with the proposed question, while leaving the intent intact, I believe.

In which case, the answer is easy. Mordecai.

At the end of the first major arc, his life is set, along with some nice, um, lets go with 'benefits'. Sure, there are still some challenges ahead, but mostly in the form of navigating life. Assuming that is about when I would awaken to this new awareness, I would then also mess with the upcoming events of the second arc, but carefully, to minimize stress and trauma while still allowing for my/our adoptive daughter to make an important choice.

Also, there are some baby dragon familiars that need to be played with and spoiled, along with a precious little 'newborn' dryad who currently has about the mental and physical age of 10, and will grow up slowly enough to reach about age 20 appearance/mentality in thirty more years. Somewhat by her own choice; she realizes that the more of the knowledge available to her that she knows, the more she 'ages' until she reaches maturity, and she'd just rather not rush that, thank you.

The second ML, Elyr.
Calm, mysterious and has split personalities.

He's just a companion of the protagonist but his presence in the fiction was so strong that my readers wanted him more than the protagonist himself.

His strength is unfathomable and anything like morals doesn't apply to him.
If you don't trigger his other personality, you're fine, but if you do, you'll go through unimaginable torture. And the worst part?
He doesn't kill, he'll make life a hell for whoever offended him.

Only two things offend him in this world,
One, you dare think of hurting the protagonist, you actually tried to or even mistakenly did, then you're a goner.

Why?, Because he's probably the only person who loved the protagonist most in this life. Even more than even his own life.

Elyr is ready to plunge the world in chaos for the protagonist.

Two, he has a feminine figure.
He knows that himself, but why do you have to tell him?
If you even mistakenly say it, you are dead!

I didn't plan on making his appearance eternal in the fiction, but I made the mistake of making him so cool and I helplessly fell for him.

Easy, it would be my golden child in my story. Harry, I know very generic name.

He's one of the most powerful prodigies in magic, the only one who rivaled the MC before the villains could, he's a bored prodigy.
Exactly my golden child in my fiction

So I first thought the question was about any character in fiction, and for some reason I thought of Shirai Kuroko from A Certain Scientific Railgun, the friend of the main character Misaka, solely because she has the ability to teleport and that's like my top 1 power to choose if I ever get one.

But the story I've been writing, Yuri × yuri paradise, has no superpowers/magic, so... I think I'd go with Jan, an older side character who's a friendly mangaka aunt, because she has her life sort of figured out, and lives a pretty ok life thanks to art being heavily subsidized by the government of New Lesbos. Knowing the author, I certainly wouldn't want to be any of the main characters, lol. They'll hopefully get a happy ending, but I'm throwing way too much drama their way. Best to keep to the sidelines.

None of the MCs. Because they started poor and powerless (as in no influence)

Maybe a powerful noble or a wealthy merchant.
