This is pretty much my first time drawing.
I tried doing linework with a mouse and it was incredibly frustrating, so I drew without it. The end result was not very clean, but it was a much more enjoyable experience.

The problem I had was not being able to follow the reference. When I tried to follow the pose it always looked wrong and eventually I abandon the reference to draw from memory. It's probably because I'm not skilled enough, but I can't find a clear way to fix this.

I also struggled on the eyes and hair. I kept drawing the eyes from the front view when the head was angled and I couldn't tell what was wrong. After about an hour I realised that indeed a circle angled a bit becomes an oval, but I still couldn't draw an eye so I gave up and just drew eyelashes.
I have watched some hair tutorials, but they weren't very helpful.

I had planned to do a full body drawing and did finish the linework for the body, but when I reached the head I just gave up. I think I spent 5 hours on the feet alone:sweating_profusely:.

Well, drawing is an enjoyable process. You'll be able to master it once you keep on practicing. :s_wink:

Mouse... Sucks... I tried to draw using a mouse once and abandoned it after three hours... Try to use your phone, it's easier. But doing it with a mouse is possible too if you have enough practice

Anyway, all the best!!!

You don't have to do exactly like the reference, as long as the anatomy doesn't get too weird, I think it's acceptable.

And you made a nice drawing, as someone who also uses the mouse, I know how difficult it is.

Turn off the mouse acceleration if you haven't already, usually that's what made mouse so wonky to use.

I think it's enhance pointer precision. When I turned it off it felt very weird.

What I drew looks nothing like the reference: I used Medibang.

Have you tried to sketch/line on paper?
Many artists sketch traditionally and then color digitally. I don’t recommend doing linework of detailed projects with mouse.

Medibang gives me wonky lines with a graphic tablet too. The feeling is weird and my pen pressure doesn’t work like I’m used to in CSP :blob_hmm:

Is there a secret trick?

It looks okay to me. Some more work and polish. And it doesn't need to look exactly like the reference. You can add your own flair, artistic license.

I draw/paint with a mouse too and, while well it is not easy, you can make it work.
