Are you happy when your old stories are getting binged, but your newer ones are being passed over? I honestly should be happy that stories which were completed 2 years ago are still being read, but when I see that my newer ones are a desert, I just sit in the dumps.

On AO3 is the same. Old stories are getting views, probably get downloaded too, and the newest stories which I update right now get like 2–3 views per update.

I should be happy, really, but I ask myself if people would only give my stories a chance once they are updated to the end.

People tend to pick up either finished books or those that have ample chapters.

I always pick up readers and steam after I have passed the 100th chapter mark. One of my current books finally past it, and I have been back on trending once again.

Weird how people don't even pick up something until it has chapter 100 posted. :blob_cookie:

I do the same when reading to be honest. Everything under 100 get read too fast and even 100 didn't took that much of time.

My current story is slow going. And it's a bit of a shock after going from my last one to this one, dropping from 100+ reads 24 hours after upload to now only seeing 20-30. But yeah I'm happy. I'm writing for myself. Sure, reads and comments give me a mood boost, but in the end, I write because *I* want to, not because others want me to.

Not as happy as people say I should be :/ progress isn't going the way I would like. Favorites aren't as high, views are a bit slow, and the Reader count is okay-ish.

But when I look at other stories around my chapter count or that were published recently, they have more favorites, readers, or views.

What's the secret behind the better reception? I don't know, a part of me worries that my writing just isn't that good.

We'll see, but damn it hurts when progress isn't going the way I envisioned it would go x)
