You could literally use the name of obscure Earth plant, and it might as well be a fantasy plant.

many common plants on earth can be twisted into puns. like, tell us forget-me-not doesn't actually use memory magic, or that weeping willows don't actually cry, and we'd be surprised! heck, just scroll through some of the variety names of roses or carnivorous plants, and draw from those. if you look up octopus plant, you'll find something like this carnivorous drosera capensis plant (example from own collection):
and then you find it wouldn't be out of place in an alien or fantasy landscape.

I think it only makes sense to specifically add unique plants if they are going to be used.
For example, if your main character is an alchemist or botanist, it might make sense.
