Hmmm... I wonder how that would work tho
Unless there is just tony, banning tends to be a long process, the only way it can be quick is if it is a cut and dry clear infraction. Let me rummage thru my memory banks...
..
.
If I remember correctly. common conventions on forums are that mods have either a private discord, a DM private thread or there is a hidden subforum here that only staff can see. And they discuss violations there.
Banning is dealt out by moderators thru an infraction tally, so banning at the end of the day is not one act by a user, but multiple instances of the successive infractions.
Mod A adds one tally, and Mod B adds one... and when it reached critical mass a ban is issued, while the mods amongst themselves tend to discuss if one action amounts to an infraction or not. Ultimately, once the tally is made it more or less have the agreement of the staff.
Therefore, a ban is not the result of a user's single act judged by a single mod but a long line of actions that arrived thru multiple judgements that usually have a consensus or at least a united front amongst the mods.
If that's the case (lulz, pun)... wouldn't it making repealing a ban really tedious. since you have to unpack all the infractions, even if the last infarction is reduced from a major infraction to a minor one, the succession of a user's history of infraction will also have to be overturned. And I'd say it might be impossible to reduce 5/5 infractions to 0/5 since, if any infraction could be so innocuous that it could be reduced to nothing, no one would have reported in the first place. And 5 minor infractions still paint a pretty damning picture of a person's effect on the forum.
At the same time from what I can see of the SHF rules violations... they are pretty clean cut. So we really have to see how banning works here... before we know if there needs to be "this" thing...
I wonder how mods operate here if it's different from Nuf
...
Please excuse my lack of experience in the wilder side of town. but as a law-abiding sort, it is kinda hard for me to imagine what infractions need repealing.
Sooo.... can anyone give me an example of what sort of situation would a mod give someone a strike but that someone should not be marked for an infraction?
And as far as I can remember, I have only seen Ben being banned and also ad-bots.... does anyone know any other banning on SHF?
I am just curious about who's been bad,
