Well, I just write. Sometimes I feel disappointed about my writing especially the grammars....... ??? I'm thankful that I post my novel here, because the people here were kind. Though I received some bad reviews together with a one star(I'm actually not sure about this, but I have two 1star in my rating), I feel hurt but it's not enough reason for me to stop. Yes, criticism will never stop me from writing, in fact give me more, I will use it as motivation. For me, it's more unforgivable if I don't finish my story. I feel bad for the characters.... ???

For my novel, some reviews are a bit weird because it's like they want my plot to go the way they want it to go. Like yes, I could go with that plot route, but I'm going to stick with how I want it because I like how the plot is going. So I don't care to give a damn if those people give me a bad review just because I don't write it the way they want it to go. Like I just power through those reviews.
I can relate man, there's some people who says that ' I don't like this story, I hate this part or change it'. I'm actually hurt whenever I see this type of comments.... Though I respect their opinions cause I know that my novel was not perfect and it will never be.

I panic and re-read my works to spot the mistakes, that's if the bad review is spot on.

Otherwise, I laugh it off with my brother.

(Though I also got extremely pissed and panicked when I got bombarded by 1*)

Thank you for responding and providing us with a link to your story. I know the website (I'm CasLon on there).
I'm actually thinking of just coming off of there tbh

Does anyone else seriously let a couple of bad reviews play on their mind to the extent it really hinders their confidence in their ability to write, where they just think maybe I should just give in? I'm not talking about this site, but on another one I have had not even a handful of like 2-3 star reviews yet the rest have been 5 stars. A little about me... I am both dyslexic and autistic and my work tends to become worse to the extent I don't always finish when my confidence takes a massive blow, no I don't always tend to pick up on every little mistake in my work and I know it isn't perfect.
Sorry for the rant btw I just needed to get it off my chest as its been eating away at me for a few days now.

Nah, don't think too much about it, think of the positive things that could help you in the future, think of why you decided to write a novel in the first place, is it to earn or is it to waste some time?

But if your goal is to earn, then you really need to kick those freaking people who had given you bad reviews like,

''wATAA! hAYA! :blob_ninja::blob_salute:''

Then follow me by saying ''Shoo, shoo! :blob_thor:''

If they're gone then you are good to go.

But seriously you should not think too much about it, even my novel Erased Existence is low on ratings, the thing that I do to forget much about it, is just to look at the sky and I say Goodbye.

It happens. I mean you'd expect it but it can still sting at times to take a blow off your confidence.

Still, it's a way to learn if the criticism is actually pretty helpful to take note of so take it in stride and learn.

If someone is being rather critical because they just don't like the direction at all....Uh, it's probably best to ignore. Don't bend backwards and change major things to please them. We had an episode of the Simpsons guest starring Mel Gibson on how that can lead to a disaster.

The Criticism in particular wasn't constructive at all it was literally a 2 star review on chapter 1 reading and I quote "Ooof Needs serious editing"

And of course, there's that.

I like that it points this out that something needs to be ironed out...But it really helps lower the rather condescending tone (even if it wasn't trying to be) if it was more specific and...Well, helpful.

Otherwise yeah, this kind of thing is very irritating.
