"AI Syntax" puts me off from reading further. Is it just me?

The primary benefit of AI is fast output of reasonably bland quality. Thus it will use the same methods and styles, which it learned from where it trained, repeatedly ad nasuem. These methods and styles in and of themselves aren't flawed, it's all about how they are used. Something repeated excessively losses meaning for a while, and becomes annoying. Words, phrases, styles, and methods have a cooldown. AI isn't aware of this yet.

Also, Not just X but Y is an overly wordy style that rarely adds any meaning unless inovert advertising. And AI picks up a lot of its language from advertising blurbs and often doesn't know not to use them in the actual book.

I was an avid user of em-dashes before AI—as many writers were—and I will continue to be an avid user of em-dashes! IT'S NOT JUST GOOD WRITING, IT LOOKS SEXY TOO! Damn. AI be infecting my brain.

Nah, I get it. I stopped using em-dashes because of the AI bonanza.
The em-dash thing kind of legit pisses me off, because I've only really just figured out how to use them (they're pretty great) and now this fucking cyber-slop is poisoning the well. I hope AI crashes and burns, and every company and investor and organization that thrust it on us ends up living on the streets (with lice!).

You and me both. I think the bubble will pop and companies will lose a lot of money, but they will blame consumers as usual.

I'd be willing to give up AI gen cover slop for this outcome.

I don't even know anymore. I just write, fuck everything, people will read if they want to read, I am not going to conform to any type of writing, because AI has been copying more and more stuff, and people are shitting out stuff with it.

I, as Envy, already dropped em-dashes because of AI overusing them, now I need to keep track of how I write things via how I syntax my text?

Fuck this shit.

I feel this so powerfully it's like I'm right there with you. Probably in your walls.

AI can pretty much copy us and rewrite our work with different names and arrangements at this point anyways. My only hope is that I'm not popular enough to be copied. Though it would suck if someone put my work through AI and told it to write a different enough version with the scenes mixed, retitled it, and published it elsewhere. (Or even the same outlet)

And yes, this is being done with non-fiction on Amazon even as we speak.

Just because something uses an em dash doesn't mean it is ai. If they use them too much or in the wrong manner(which are most as they have a real purpose) then it most likely is AI. Ai just doesn't understand the meaning behind the symbol, just that writers good and bad like using it where they put it. You really want to fuck up AI, use & instead of and so that it identifies it as an empty space or token word depending on the system. Idk how that will actually do anything but worth a shot.

Grammarly also suggests it a lot, and I usually accept it... Then all this nonsense came to be, so now I just use commas.

Is it grammar premium because I have never been given the option to change something to an email dash. Definitely offered me syntax suggestions or dashes between words but I will often check the grammar between myself and grammarly before ever accepting due to not trusting it. Commas are really good.
