Yes that makes sense!

I think part of it for me is that there's a narrative gap that I'm not sure all of us are on the same page right now. For instance, what is the "seriousness" of the quest and what kind of "story tone" are you going for (or expecting the players to go with)? For instance, if you're planning a tragic quest, is this something that all of us should match our characters to?

A critical thing about AGSA is that there's no formal power limits on characters. The result of this is that most of us currently in this quest are quite overpowered, which makes it challenging to GM the quest in a way that kills off the party in a way that players are prepared for (with respect to everyone's main stories). IMO, I think it would be a good idea to communicate what expectations you have, and some of us may be willing to volunteer for certain sacrificial lamb roles -- although for my characters, I would generally prefer to have advance notice so I can consider if it fits well with my story on the main site.

I'm also a bit confused (from an authorial standpoint) about why all of our characters gathered here.

Clearly, it's for something extremely important with high stakes, and it's obviously something that our characters know about (since they were asked to come and they agreed) -- but for some reason, I (as an author) have no idea what that is. xD

It's apparently important/threatening enough that you have leaders from several noble factions as well as the leader of Runeswick Island (Yew) all converging onto the same place for a "scouting" mission.

For me, the only interpretation is that our characters know something about this mission that we (as authors) don't.

Which is a little bit mind boggling to write for, and ultimately I feel like I'm writing a lot of filler ("Hey how have you've been"), because the stakes of the mission aren't exactly clear. The tone is really bizarre as a result, because it's unclear if we're writing "The Night Before the Battle of Helms Deep and We're All Going To Die So We Need To Be Serious Now" or "Oh this is just a normal mission let's chill bro".
Right! I'd preferred if we had things set in stone and were clear. I'm having a hard time writing because I don't know what's considered canon or I just have entirely nothing to go off on.
Hmm, I hadn't really considered that the quest summary was kind of vague to the uninitiated in terms of what to expect and what to explore. I guess those of us familiar with @Bochi just kinda knew instinctively what was coming, leaving most of you out of the loop xD

*Grumbles in so many nobles gathering that things ended up taking a completely different route*

Originally, I was planning for it to be a regular scouting mission, just with some higher stakes as well as a mastermind reveal partway, but since so many big shots are here that’s impossible now. Though it does open up other possibilities so this isn’t a bad thing, but still, oh well, it can’t be helped.

Since setting some stakes would help things, how does ‘a growing evil that’ll gradually take over the surrounding islands’ sound?
A big bad evil that's unknown? Sounds fun!

There are details that Bochi will reveal in the main meeting. He's already listed them and highlighted their importance broadly, but I'll give a few hypothetical examples:

"So, here is what we know exactly about the situation...blah blah magical disturbance...blah blah cannot send flying scouts due to vision being blocked..."

"We'll disembark from Cimon's Tail, since..."

"There might be something at this junction, so before we get there remember to raise your evil-sealing wards..."

"I've handed out flares to key members of the party. If we must retreat from overwhelming forces, toss them and immediately back off, and run to one of the pickup points we've set-up.
If it’s a mission briefing rather than a strategy meeting, wouldn’t it make sense to just gather everyone together now? :blob_frown:

…Or are we doing two meetings one with the nobles, and one with everyone else….?

I think for me I was just a bit lost on why the nobles need to meet alone first?

I think the problem is we are 6 pages in and nothing has happened... there is too much talking and not enough action and progress
The talking is fine since all the nobles pulled up like the Don was holding a party, so the set-up has to be grand. It's also the first great collab between stories, so it's the interactions are to be expected.

...In hindsight, this was very true. At first Eochaidh was just a veteran adventurer tagging along but then I realised that Gawgaru-dono, and a whole bunch of big shot came along, then Bochi, who probably was taken off guard as well and didn't too deep about the whole 'everyone in the HRE is here' thing and named Eochaidh as Commander- putting him above the aforementioned big shots

Thus I ended up making up whole paragraphs about why Eochaidh was the commander by creating the League of Valour within the span of an hour, was forced to include a whole rant to Ames about him bringing a whole fleet because by that time there was a whole 3 levels of tonal dissonance from ohko messing around with the Getandmarks and Eochaidh being supa-serious about his supa-important role as the leader of an entire noble coalition.

...I thought I made this crystal clear?! ? ___ ?

The strategy meeting is to tell the nobles about the plan Eochaidh personally cooked up along with Kaede and (insert off screen characters), and finalise the plan, which means that the nobles can provide input if there is something they want to change or point out and hopefully we'll get some sweet arguments on the right course of action. Eochaidh also hasn't formally met with the all of the nobles yet, so good time to get introduced to them in the right, serious and politicky climate

The mission briefing will be the finalised plan, delivered in a clear and concise format, possibly accompanied by a speech if I fancy it.

:er_what_s: I see....

Um, my opinion is that maybe Eochaidh can just start presenting the plan then (or was Kaede presenting it)?

I'm not sure how many of the nobles present are particularly opinionated. At least, if you were waiting for Gawrgaru or Ames, the former basically worships Eochaidh and will do everything he says without questioning it, and the latter generally respects the chain of command and understands that nobody will take his ideas (carpet bombing entire islands with airships) seriously and will again defer to Eochaidh.

Dunno who's controlling Gwen.

Dunno about if @fyrre @Ddraig or @Reborn_Cat have opinions about how the mission will be pursued.
