That name sounded so insane! Never heard of a toad in the hole before :blob_hide: :blob_hmm:
What's the recipe?
I've mentioned it before today in this thread but here's what constitutes a toad in the hole:
Yorkshire pudding
Sausages
'-'

You make the Yorkshire pudding batter and let it rest in the fridge to allow the mixture to do its magic.
You then cook the sausages and put them to the side before they're fully cooked.
You then get a deep-ish dish - preferably metallic, or glass - and put some cooking fat into it.
Place in a hot oven and wait for the fat to melt - while waiting, take out the batter from the fridge to get to room temperature.
Once the fat is melted, take out of the oven and pour the batter into the dish, then quickly add the sausages and place back in oven.
Wait for the stuff to cook.
Make sure to open the oven door when there's about 5-7 mins left to allow the moisture to leave and stop the Yorkshire pudding from going soggy and not fully cooking.
Once the Yorkshire pudding has fully puffed up and is a nice dark brown, you'll know it's ready.
Take out of the oven and serve!
\o/

It goes really nicely with mashed potato, onion gravy with sliced onions in it, and sliced/chopped, cooked cabbage.
(^-^)

I cook it slightly differently to Nah.
I cook the sausages to get fat all over the tray.
Then make the yorkshire mixture (Salt, eggs, milk and flour), leaving it to sit there.
Then when the sausages are cooked you take the tray out and stuff and cut the sausages up into small little slices.
Spread the sausage slices into the tray and then pour the mixture into it.
Then you get sausage all throughout the toad in the hole rather than only on top which is much nicer!

Still...it's kind of strange that a non-Brit knows and eats toad in the hole.

Ah, also, my family use slimming sausages and cook them in a frying pan, then fry the onions in the same pan and make the gravy in that pan.

Oh I forgot about the onions though they are optional you put them in with the sausages before the mixture if you want them! I usually don't!
