When I say skim I mean I skip any reports that don't look of importance to the overall plot.

well, if you are interested, zorion, spent two years in a dream version of the future, can now talk to fruit, is turned into a merman. got his voice back, and is now having an identity crisis, along with a hormonal imbalance because of his new body that has a new life expectancies of 200yrs.

that is just a mess...

I try to keep them compact so the reader's attention doesn't get lost.

IMO, the right size for any report is... The shortest it can be.

If you need to go in-depth in some things and needs to portray a lot of things and it inevitably ends up growing big... That's totally fine! \(^^)/

I only get annoyed if someone starts making it bigger for the sake of being big... >.>

I published the leaderboards with the top 3 biggest reports split into a few different categories.

... This had the unfortunate side effect of burning up some people's competitive spirit... >.>

My biggest report is still in the 4k margin actually, I'm innocent in that regard~

Well as long as the writer can make it interesting enough to last 11k then it should but that should be a marathon of itself for both writers and reader imo.

Most chapters I’ve read usually have 2k words as a safe margin.

In that case then you don’t need to put in other rewards unless there’s no monetary rewards or there’s a side benefit for doing the quest

There were a fair amount of 10k+ reports in the old interations of AG and they were all interesting to me... I only get annoyed if the writer started artificially prolonging the report with pointless things just to beat a record.

Because really, sometimes you just want to portray far too many things and it ends up going that big... And that's fine~

I once had to read a 6 people report that had around 50k words even, and it was fun, because it didn't feel forced at all~

So uhn... I'm good with long reports. I actually like them a lot! I just want them to have a reason to be long! >.<
