:blobrofl: To be fair, the river was about to stop making sense! It was dumping into the ocean into two different places on different ends of the continent and also draining into a waterfall/swamp/lake.

It needed to be fixed!

Does the office work quest actually require that you do work for the guild? i.e. spend the day reading quests and helping people?

Kind of? It's the first I wrote down. Usually, the characters just stay in mind.
Could you use a darker color please? This is unreadable in light theme.

Not really. You can just write that your character was buried in paperwork or something, here is an example: https://forum.scribblehub.com/threads/adventurers-guild-reception-desk.1640/post-30862

Notably, the generic exploration quest was removed -- currently, I'd prefer for most "exploration" quests to be non-repeatable as a custom quest. Please make a custom quest if you want something explored.

Added a few quests, removed some, renamed others.

  • New characters cannot have more than 500Gin money.
    • 10G = 1 day living expenses.

My character's a spirit so I can't actually imagine him needing any "living" expenses... Does he still have to pay?

No, it’s just a guideline so people have a sense of value for money

I'm finally doing this. I was also reading opinions about the current prices meanwhile so...

Market price chart:
Weapons:
Iron Knife 20 G
Iron Shortsword 50 G
Iron Lance 100 G
Wooden Bow 120 G
10 wooden arrows 1 G
Customized metal weapons price x 2.5 - x 3.5
Not weapon metal tools price x 1.2 - x 1.5

So the weapons' based price is for iron casted weapons(excluding the wood ones). They work fine as a weapon but they aren't as sharp as a customized one(they stab as good). They probably do more blunt damage than slash damage. For the purpose of trying to kill things is probably the same difference between a +7 atk and a +10 atk. Probably. I'm not an expert in forging. I'm just trying to make this more believable. If you just need a weapon because you lack one you can buy the cheap ones. But some fighting style requires a very specific weapon to show their maximum performance. You cannot expect a katana to work like a rapier or a rapier to work like a katana. The difference between an iron casted weapon that doesn't fit and a customized weapon that fit is basically +7 atk and +20 atk. I will admit that I'm oversimplifying the explanation. If someone is more knowledgeable about this argument probably can bury me somewhere for the price. But I'm also working for a gameplay balance prospective and a roleplay simplicity prospective.

As a side note: not every weapon can be made perfectly. I don't know how advanced is the weapon development in this world but if they lack the knowledge and tools to make x weapon, the best they can do is an underperforming replica based on the info you gave. So don't expect something like the perfect katana that can cut through anything.

As a side note of the side note: If you decide to play as a blacksmith, you have a bit more freedom as long it makes sense and you do proper research.

Armor:
Leather Armor 120 G
Iron Armor 200 G
Wood Shield 30 G
Customized armors price x 1.2 - x 2.5

There are not casting involved so this price makes more sense. If there is, it doesn't make it as cheap. Again I don't have much knowledge about forging. Only a few people are going to buy armors anyway. This isn't a full set. I'm currently too lazy to work with each piece individually.

Magic stuff:
Wooden Mage Staff (max 3 extra enchatment) 100 G
Mage Robe (max 3 extra enchatment) 120 G
+1 enchantment price x 1.5 - x 2.0

The magic kinds of stuff are always pricy. Also, this can easily go out of control without proper checks. The based for both items is "help a bit with mana channeling". Also, only people that want to go for a classic mage are going to buy this stuff.

Tomes are a bit too sensitive material to give a proper price for now.

Side note: You can buy the base version and add the enchantment yourself. Just remember that the more enchantment it has and the harder it is to add a new one.

Side note of the side note: This is just a market price chart. I'm not setting up an NPC shop. It's just to help people give a more proper price. We haven't added any rules yet but I think everyone will agree if you are going to resell it to an NPC, you are only going to take 10%/20% of the price.

Potion:
Minor healing potion 10 G
Minor mana potion 10 G
Healing potion 100 G
Mana potion 100 G
Great healing potion 1000 G
Great mana potion 1000 G

So the stronger you are and the less effective potions are. Minor healing is very good for people from civilians to experienced warriors. It's basically a full heal or 80% heal potion to them. But if you are physically stronger than that, the effectiveness drop to 40/50% because of talent or extreme training or racial traits. Overall It's very similar to a normal rpg. The only major difference is we don't care if you are a grass cannon or a tank. The same logic work with mana potion. This is mostly to keep healing and mana potion price relevant. You can probably make a character that doesn't need potions but have other drawbacks. (an example is my character that has faster recovery but has the drawback of healing magic and potions doesn't work on him so he actually needs to require to wait to recover before he is ready for actions. it's not an equal trade considering he also never can use magic but it adds more substance to "use brain to overcome difficulties" but I'm going slightly offtopic).

Long story short, if you want or don't buy potions (or anything), it's your decision of how you want to roleplay. It's not like to have a large amount of money mean anything unless you want to ruin other people's fun.

General good:

I posted before I manage to finish this... Anyway, I mostly agree with most of the prices here. Only the lantern and the backpack I feel they are a bit too cheap.

I've updated the worldanvil site with all the new info(with some minor edits) in the library(apart from two(1&2)). I also edited one of the markers on the map. I'll start linking together the articles at a later date.

On a seperate note, can we get a memo in the library on Scribel City itself? Just because I'd like to link a lot of the other articles to it. There are quite a few scattered quest reports on the districts/sections of the city, which I'll see if I can help find later.

I know it's more work... but would it be possible to have the info on the post number or memo or UTC Time the map is current to?

that way I will know if there are new locations not on the map yet, so to avoid double exploring a place.

if not, it's fine, if I am playing the cartographer meta I should be on top of what's where anyway.
I added a link in the map's description to the last OOC post with the stream(hence the map is updated with info before the time of that post).

Someone go through my report. Also @Yorth you might want to check it and add the places I mentioned to the map.

If your character is considering becoming a part-time worker at a certain location with quest rewards, how would that affect them?

For OOC purposes, please write a report to claim the reward.

If you’re specifically referring to the receptionist/library work, there’s a small reward for each report that you file.

If you’re specifically referring to the receptionist/library work, there’s a small reward for each report that you file.
To explain this further, both the EXP and G systems are primarily an OOC measure to control player progress through the game.

However, they don’t need to be a strict exact mirror of how much money your character really has (or is spending), or how much “experience” they’ve accumulated. Instead think of it as a rough approximation.

The reason for this is that it’s totally fine to do time skips — like have a few days or weeks or even months pass. If you decide to take a break from the game and come back three months later, you can pick up the game at the same EXP/G as when you left. You can make up a backstory what what your character was doing all this time if you like — and also explain why they hadn’t seen much progress.

I’d like to avoid EXP/G gain through time skips because then it becomes too easy for someone to write: “My character did the Night Watch quest for 7 years and now they’re level 11. Yay.”

A major basis of this game is writing, and a certain amount of writing is expected in order to level your character up. I realize this is an OOC aspect, but this is an extremely important regulatory control for a multiplayer RPG like this.

You will need to come up with IC explanations for why your character does not improve / make money.

Personally, I think it’s fine to pretend that your character took more quests than you’ve actually written — but perhaps nothing noteworthy happened on those quests — so they didn’t grow much from it.

Out of curiosity, is @ohko still the only one using @GM ? Or did other people get added without me noticing?
Still only @ohko! Although if anyone wants to volunteer, you should definitely PM me!

The main requirement for the GM account is that you really like to make quests — particularly guild quests. So go make tons of quests! And then I might shove this account onto you (lol) :blob_happy:
