I know, right? You're right. I'm amazed and confused.
I've found you have to experiment a bit to get something good.Yeah. Doing yet another portrait in the same 'artstyle' as hundred others, is it really good? I adressed this question in OP, I know about "if it ain't broke don't fix it." The point wasn't this.
Yes, the point of the thread isn't shaming someone for using AI. It's a discussion about why a lot of those covers look exactly the same.I only use AI for bookcovers and I'll never claim something that isn't mine.

ive asked ChatGPT to output the cover previously and it told me no.You won’t believe it. In this case, it’s just GPT.
That’s interesting. Which version do you usually use?ive asked ChatGPT to output the cover previously and it told me no.
the free 4oThat’s interesting. Which version do you usually use?
Did you try again?the free 4o
This statement begets a question, are people just lazy, or is it really a lack of creativity?
I am lucky, I have a friend who knows photoshop so I can ask him to edit this or that.
the reason many AI covers look similar I think not simply because of laziness, it’s convergence. People are feeding the same generic prompts into the same model expecting wildly different outcomes, but of course they will look alike. Is it really as simple as laziness or is it AI models problems? Maybe the problem lies with people trying to substitue real artists with AI instead of fully utilizing AI? They try to create 'the character in their head' but end up with those generic-looking art pieces. Share your thoughts.
Brother, you missed the whole point. You bringing up real artists and not-so-subtly trying to 'defend' AI art proves it. I was not attacking AI art, nor people who use it.yes, could be both, just lazy or lack of creativity, or could be less time consuming? or no money to afford real artist. or got scammed before, maybe paid the price but the result is not satisfying?
you could even ask the same question of your friend, does using Photoshop instead of traditional brush mean he’s lazy or uncreative?
I don’t think so...
people learn tools to make art, whether it's photoshop or AI or other tool
if someone ask me to do photoshop i can produce a total mess but your friend might be producing super artistic fine stunning arts
same case, you compare beginner people with their normal prompt to AI, thus producing "generic same vibes common cabbage tier arts"
but someone out there is really good at making the prompt to use AI as tool.

It's not the problem people trying to substitute real artist with AI, that feels like a very narrow take, to be honest.
people will tend to prefer use "FREE” stuff, most writers are hobbyists or beginners, real artists cost real money and readers usually do not pay to read their stuff. So when you’re not making money, spending big isn’t rational. Free tools exist for a reason.
Same logic, do you call readers or writers in Scribble Hub trying to replace real traditional publisher out there by offering free read online?
Obviously no, right?
Very user friendly i say, you could read multiple books anywhere just using your phone instead of carrying books everywhere.
the real question isn't about substitution, the problem lies within how well you can cope with the modern technology
That's for my thought
Hello bro, my bad if I misunderstood your point, that wasn’t my intention at all...Brother, you missed the whole point. You bringing up real artists and not-so-subtly trying to 'defend' AI art proves it. I was not attacking AI art, nor people who use it.
The point of thread, why AI covers look same-ish, even though AI CAN make something diverse. Look at the cover I used as an example in my first post. There are hundreds of covers like that one. All while AI can do this.Hello bro, my bad if I misunderstood your point, that wasn’t my intention at all...
im clearly not defending AI, it's about why it might not be about laziness or lack of creativity.
It’s more complex than that and I thought it was worth exploring.
Also I was sharing the thought that is crossing in my mind, how does AI affect the world, especially cover artist, maybe some real artist who is struggling with AI thing could find inspiration from this, we dont need to focus about 'the replacement' its no use to over explore it, to me, the real issue is how we cope and adapt to the technology itself
it all depend of the prompt to be honest and how you use it to have what you want, if you look for generic, you will get generic. Here some AI (I didn't said there not some generic in it, but at least the style differ):
Maybe its also due to a large part of the community using free AI which are limited to be honest compared to an AI you pay for.The point of thread, why AI covers look same-ish, even though AI CAN make something diverse. I actually missed your point saying people need to learn how to Prompt. Personally, I don't think it's a valid argument, at the same time, everyone are different. Some might struggle with prompting more than others. It's an interesting thought, thank you for sharing.
True, true.Maybe its also due to a large part of the community using free AI which are limited to be honest compared to an AI you pay for.
I completely agree on that if it weren't for the fallacy of putting the difficulty and how much you can improve on the same level.people learn tools to make art, whether it's photoshop or AI or other tool
Sure, the difficulty might vary but that doesn’t change the fact that both still require "something" to make something worthwhile. Mastery takes different form depending on the mediumI completely agree on that if it weren't for the fallacy of putting the difficulty and how much you can improve on the same level.
