Yes, sometimes people write for fun, generally as a hobby. However, over time, they may subconsciously develop expectations. When these expectations aren't met, they can feel discouraged and fall into a state of mental deprivation. While not everyone experiences this, many spiral into negative thoughts. Eventually, they might either recover or give up entirely on writing. Some may return to it later, while others may not-nya.

That's true. But burnout can also occur because authors push themselves too hard to write. Excessive enthusiasm can overload their brains. I personally write a maximum of three chapters a day (averaging 1.5K words per chapter). And after that, my head feels incredibly heavy. I want to keep writing and finishing the story (regardless of whether it's read or not), but my brain capacity is too small to keep up with my enthusiasm. In the end, I just go to sleep and hope the next day my brain is refreshed.

Something I find helpful in preserving creativity is doing the exact opposite. Try to write or plot the most uncreative, most boring, and most nonsensical storylines you can imagine.

I write simultaneously three to four stories. For this reason, I can simply swap my focus and change things up. This helps avoiding getting too caught up and jeeping things fresh. At least for me, I think it works. My stories are dissimilar enough not to grow bored of always the same.
