1. College writers
Recently joined and was wondering how you balance your writing and school work.
Also what did you major in? (Just curious on the type of people who write. I personally did Finance)

2. Randoms
What do you do for work or study?

I started writing back when I was in college. I just write whenever I felt like it back then, it took my first book (50k -80k words) about two years to complete.

Then, when I went to law school, I wanted to train my english grammar and typing speed. I found that writing is the best hobby for me.

I was a management accounting graduate, kinda like finance, but now I suck at it and pay for the accounting services of my friends lol

While I am in class or during break time, I observe others around me and find myself imagining different scenarios :blob_happy:Then, I document these thoughts in my notebook before moving on to school-related tasks. This gives me a balance. As for my major, I initially focused on humanities however, I have changed my interest to business and management. In order to prepare for the future, I am considering the option of getting a part-time job to generate additional income

Ah! I have a problem when it comes to imagining scenarios. They often when I'm just about to sleep and normally I'm too tired write anything... but! I try and keep short notes.
Cool major. I likely would have done humanities if I haven't started writing online. There's just greater freedom here.

Damn, there many interesting majors out there. Though how much are you able to write in an hour? Do you edit in the same hour as well?

As a random person, went to college for IT security, never managed to make use of it due to absurd entry-level requirements and since forgot most of it. Used to work at an Amazon warehouse (it is pure evil, never work for them) and then a few factory jobs.

Unfortunately, the conditions and circumstances of those jobs broke me, and now I am disabled due to extreme depression, and barely do anything at all. I try to write at least a chapter a week, but don't always succeed. Always wanted to write when I was younger, but never had the time due to all the stress. Nowdays, I have less stress crushing down on me, so I use what little energy I have to record what happens in the world in my head.

Typically, most of my 'writing' time is just spent sitting there doing nothing, but even so, I tend to finish a chapter in about an hour due to being able to type almost as fast as I can think when I really get into it. Love seeing people enjoy my work, it's the best thing to happen for my depression out of everything I've encountered/tried. Just gotta get more written so people can keep enjoying it.

Maybe if I can ever get a big enough backlog I can try to make some money too, but that is just a nice dream for now.

Just link the scenarios to your interests. Don't forget to rest too, as being overloaded can cause overwhelming pressure.
That is fine because you have your own path to follow

Balance - I don't.
I try to write during my office hours (I'm VP Communications for my college) and after supper but lately, it's pretty much just staring at a blank word document, typing a few sentences and then giving up. My drive to write has been pretty lacking since the summer.

Course - Currently, Business Administration focusing on Accounting, but I also took an Electronic Engineering Technician diploma course a few years ago and wrote about 200k words throughout the two years of that.

I set up an hour to 2-hour period each day for writing and the rest for schoolwork and my job. Though if I have more time I'll use it.

I don't really have balance. per se, but I only write when time permits. I don't write seriously, but it is more of a casual hobby for me.
I study and work in drug development, and spend most of my days in a lab doing experiment, it is also the time I write the most, given that some of my experiments take forever to run, and only require me to do something every 30 minutes or so, I have a lot of down time during work.
