I know that a CN tried to pull this off and I don't know or care where it went. I also don't know if there are other works who attempted and failed to pull the "split consciousness into different bodies from the start of the novel" and keep it as fresh as possible.
Here is my (doomed from the start) idea.
So the ROB got into a chess match with other seven ROBs and their gameplan is simple, each of them summon five poor adult sods from our world and throw them into the DnD like world with limitless growth LitRPG element. So eight ROBs, 40 players.
Only their souls will get transmigrated into the still living bodies with an identity and all their memories, though results may vary with the identity being useful like an elven prince, to mundane like the halfling adventurer to being a pest like a goblin.
Imba choices are also thrown into the mix like chromatic dragons, beholders and titans, though they have their own limitations like having to perform sidequests as their character arcs and instant deaths when they deviate from their identity too much.
Also, the endgame is not given to the sods and it is just like Elden Ring; go figure it out yourself. Furthermore, the contest between the ROBs are not revealed to the sods and they themselves might not even know about each other even though they are under the same ROB, further complicating the already tangled mess when it is possible for sods under different ROBs meeting one another and ally themselves.
Then here comes MC, a dude named Damien who got unluckily chosen by ROB. Making this problem worse is that he was in a terrible car accident with another four of his friends but somehow he was the only one who died. By a simple logic, ROBs can change from one lump kill to individuals killing in order to collect the five sods, but since the ROB is lazy, he decided to twist his pawn piece that is Damien into something else when he noticed that the other ROBs have alliances or even cheated by granting high tier bodies for their players.
So Damien himself will be using five bodies instead of just one and a human mind cannot do that, ROB grants these bodies some level of autonomy by simple commands from Damien. However, the pain felt by one body will be felt by him no matter which body he is in and death to one body will result in all five of their deaths. Likewise, each body level up at their own pace and merits and only skills are shared with one another when gained, not the racial perks. The inventory will be shared, combining into a subspace five times as large as a normal player's and items can be sent back and forth between bodies.
The five avatars granted by Damien are a male dwarf, a male drow, a male orc, a doppelganger (?) and a primodial flesh (imagine meat slime).
Some changes to the roster is welcomed.
As skills can be gained with relative ease like Sword Thrust, Shield Bash, etc. Once learnt, they can be used by each avatar. The racial perks as mentioned are the dwarf's natural strength, orc's special constitution and drow's dexterity cannot be shared with one another as the characters will become too imba. Likewise, the demerits of the orc will not pull down the other four avatars.
I understand that I am offloading too much idea into a thread, but this is what I came up with and have hopes that some authors can take in the idea and hop off of it.
