Just something I think I need to get off my chest, but I've been feeling unnerved when trying to get my draft together for the story I want to post here. For a quick summary, it's basically a battle tournament/league where the fighters compete for various reasons and goals, ultimately fighting for prize money, a title, and recognition. Think Girls of the Wild's meets Street Fighter but with less melodrama and hadokens respectively. The draft is a difficulty in itself writing because setup is just a pain no matter how silly and lose the setting can be, but something that's got me more worried is that what I want to write just isn't in the typical mold of what seems to be on this site. It's not an Isekai, nor a LitRPG, nor a Reincarnation story. I worried if the crowd I'll be working is even be interested in a story like that.

Of course, I'm still working on the draft of the first chapter, so this could all just be all just nagging thoughts and second-guesses. Still, it's been on my mind and making me hesitate for a while now when I try writing the story every now and then. I'm not really expecting an answer or response from this. Honestly, I just think writing it out helps me get over my nerves better when I can write it out like this and come to terms with it, but if anyone's got similar feelings about their own story feel free to share. I'm curious to see if others share in my experience.

Anyway, just wanted to get that off my chest real quick before jumping back into drafting.

Well I have similar experiences. But I think its just better to write it out. Sometimes people will get bored of the same time of stories and they want a change of pace and your story seems like it might be a breath of fresh air. I know how you feel about gaining interest because it does feel nice to be recognised and appreciated because of what you write.

But honestly sometimes when your story garners a lot of readers it does put a lot of pressure especially if some people say what stuff they don't like about it and you should change it, it can make you lose motivation or even because it has a lot of readers it makes you doubt whether the new chapter you write would be as good as the last as you don't want to disappoint your fans.

The best advice I can give is just to write it out, maybe a couple of chapters or five. Then reread it, if you enjoy reading it in the perspective of a reader then other people would enjoy it too. Besides its important that you enjoy what you write about and not just because its what gets the most views. You'll burn out if you do it that way and it makes writing every chapter a chore.

Hope this helps.

Post it, you will never know how it will go unless you try. I too was very hesitant about posting my novel, it was a reincarnation story, but I felt what I was going for wouldn’t really be consumed by the readers here.

Thats why all I can say is that you should go for it. Unlike other websites, ScribbleHub has a little showcase area where new novels get on display.

And if you didn’t get what you wanted from here, then you can try and post it in another website.

I've put ntr in the title yet I've got lots of views. Write whatever you want, and post whatever you want, just follow the guidelines. Btw if you're story will have a male protagonist I would check it. I liked how Girls of the Wild's started.

Post it with the assurance that there's always something worse. There'll always be someone who likes it. Or at least, accepts its presence...or tolerates it.

Well... bone-chewing aside, thanks for the words of encouragement, everyone. Makes me feel a little more relieved about finishing up this draft and getting first the chapter out. Though to answer SailusGebel's question, the protagonist is female, as is most of the main cast.

There are more than 7 billion types of humans on earth and through various means of internet evolution in the past more than three years, a new class of very docile and accepting internet reader class was evolved on SH.

Just go for this new breed of internet SH-reader. :blob_hug: :blobtaco:

I'm curious to see if others share in my experience.

I recently made a forum post feeling anxious about my first post here, and being new to story writing. As well as wondering how it might be accepted. So you're not alone there. Luckily this place seems relatively positive with lots of wonderful and encouraging people! As for it not being in the 'mold' - in my opinion just write what you want.

That's what I'm doing, I'm actually a bit worried about the fact that I plan to deviate from what seems like the norm of some of the genre/tags. For example, I used the smut tag because there will be some, but it's not going to be like, a major part of the story even though my main character is part Succubus. Will that turn some people off? Probably, but I'm trying to not worry about it.

I want to improve my writing, especially with characters, so I spend most of my time trying to think about what 'feels' realistic for the situation. And go from there with what happens. Like exploring how being murdered and Isekai'd might really affect someone, and struggling to accept reality, and not just thinking of the world as her plaything despite her abilities and 'cheats'. It'll probably turn off some people who want to see more of a power fantasy.

I also know for a fact, that her being bisexual and having sex with guys is going to turn some people off, just from comments I've read from other stories. It made me really anxious at first. I've been writing in Google docs for weeks, started with one story, then stopped it to make the one I recently posted. Mulled over things for a while, even not writing for about two weeks until a couple days ago. Eventually I decided, if I compromise on my ideas to fit what is popular or other people are vocal about, it's not really my story anymore.

Not that there is anything inherently wrong with writing for others, but when you want to make your own creation, take feedback but don't compromise the heart of your ideas for anyone but yourself.

This is all just my thoughts, hope it helps and I wish you good luck! :blob_okay:

I need a coffee addict Character :blob_drool:

You know. Lilith Everhart might have been a rather unabashed coffee addict in a prior life. :blob_melt:
Not saying I'm planning to have a Quest for Coffee arc eventually or anything. :blob_hide:

Write what you want. If you upload it. People will read it.
