Hey everyone, i have a friend who claims he writes little bit over 22k words everyday during the 5 days of the week. At first i didn't believe that he was this prolific in his writing but it turns out that i was wrong. I went by his place to spend a weak and observed his routine carefully.
He wakes up 5:00 on the dot every morning. After tending to his morning routine (eating breakfast and such) he immediately sit around his comfortable desk, boots up his laptop and starts typing. As a fellow writer i natural joined him by doing some writing of my own. Hours passed and i felt like an apprentice learning from a master Jedi of words!

While i got up and stretch my legs a couple of times, my master sat there for 6 hours straight typing constantly! I was amazed by his deep concentration and at the same time concern about his health. I mean his spinal fluids could have cease up if he didn't move for so long. Anyway, after another hour went by he got up finally and used the bathroom before long getting something to snack on. I suggested that we watch a movie and chill during the break but he had other plans. Instead of wasting time watching movies like me, my master decided to build his already chiselled muscles by undertaking some intense exercise. He did a few deadlifts, leg presses and a few bicep curls to get his blood pumping. This was after his food had been digested.

When i asked him why he was working out like such a beast he told me that it helps keeps him in shape and prevented the veins in his arms from getting overly pressured by the lot of typing that he does. Unlike most writers i know my masterful Jedi of words was very bulky just as those dudes you see spending most of their time in gyms. At a glance, no one would be able to tell that he was actually a professional writer. He maintains an healthy constitution so he can write longer without suffering any bodily injuries. The only injury he should be suffering is a mental one.

After his workout session, my master went right back to typing. In the morning he sits down and types but in the afternoon he usually stands as he writes. He said it increases his blood circulation and helps him write a lot faster and i witnessed its effectiveness for myself. Sitting down makes me feel a bit lazy but standing up give me more motivation to write and it also trains my legs to be firmer. By the time the first day of observation was over, my master had written close to 31k words. I think this word count might be close to a standard novel or i could be wrong.

Anyway, i found out that being a Jedi of words was a legitimate thing. You just have to commit to it like my master. He taught me a valuable lesson that is making me take writing a lot more serious than i used to back in the days. Writing even 40k words a day isn't an impossible task for my sifu. Do any of you think you could be as prolific as him? I'm trying but i'm still not there. I think my physical health along with my mental focus needs to be as strong as his to pull it off. He is never out of creative ideas.

I admire the dedication to promote your novel this way, but it's kind of reached a point where it went from funny to kind of cringe. Good effort though to stand apart of the shameless crowd.

Yeah, you might be putting a little too much effort there.

Tsk, these scammers don't even try to make themselves look legit! I didn't even need to do a google search to find the flaws in your argumentation!

I would have to completely change how I write to do that.

Tried this for a couple days once in summer vacation back in the day. Hated it. The write->exercise->write loop works, but it tears at your body without long conditioning. Not to mention the joint issues from typing so long. Much better to do five minute chunks spread throughout the day.

The deep concentration was fun, though your back will hate you for it.

Back when I first started out I tried doing this and decided that I needed to work towards it because I couldn't write more than 500 words a day at first due to work and my lack of practice. Now I can easily pull off 2k words in a day despite working so much. However, I am dealing with major writer's block so I'm just editing my old stuff.

There’s a thing called the law of diminishing returns. While writing 30k words a day may sound like a good thing, in reality it’s not. Why? Because the majority of what is written ends up being incoherent rubbish. Writing that much means the time spent on editing and planning is none at all leaving countless holes in the story left unfilled. It’s just a stream of thoughts without rhyme or reason. At that point you’re just writing for the sake of writing, it’s just laziness for one’s craft and complacency. You lose substance with that level of quantity and you’re just trying to dig through the endless pile of trash to find some sort of diamond in it. In writing, less is actually more.
