    Share Your Storytime

After I got my wisdom teeth removed, I was coming down off the anesthesia. They sat me in a room and told me to sit there until they could check me over and make sure I was alright. I waited until I saw that the doc was distracted reading my chart or something, then screamed for them to "get...

What's your favorite thing about writing?

I like when other people tell me how great I am. Not at writing, just in general.

Do you think Scribblehub should ban ai generated novels?

I propose that we use AI-assisted genome editing to replace natural human readers with augmented readers that actually prefer lazy writing and amateur prose.

    Biggest achievement of my life

If your word count was 60,000 then both would have been multiples of 3, however 59,999 is prime. Please edit your previous chapter to include one additional word.

How ruthless are you when it comes to DNFing stuff?

I never finish novels that I like. If I don't read the last chapter then my brain can believe that the story goes on forever. But if I read a definitive ending, my soul becomes a little more empty.

A shocking realization about the "kicked from the hero's party" trend. (Please don't do this.)

You see this plot a lot in any villain/antihero protagonist story, it isn't exclusive to just 'kicked from hero's party' style stories. How do you make the audience root for a villain protag? One of the he easiest ways is to make the 'good guys' way worse so they look good by comparison.

How to decide what gore is unnecessary gore?

Write the details that your MC notices in that situation, not every detail. You can add characterization and insight to their state of mind based on what sort of observations they make. It's better to go in depth on one or two things than vaguely mention everything. If they're feeling guilty...

How would you describe baking to the point where the entire chapter is a Food Wars segment

As I sunk my teeth into the slopping, muggy pastry, glazing gushed down my greedy throat. My mouth overflowed with the hot, sticky slather until I felt the urge to gag. The excess spilled from both corners of my lips and drizzled down my chin and leaving speckles on my shirt. Gordan Ramsey...

    Weed for writers block?

If you wrote 10k words smoking once, just imagine how productive you'd be if you took some edibles before sitting down to write. Trending list, here I come!

Gremlin tingz Reading Forum threads instead of writing

Reading the forums and watching videos about writing is great. I get to pretend that I'm being productive by researching to improve my craft without actually having to work on my book. My subconscious doesn't know the difference and gives me the dopamine anyway. (y)

A good title for an infamous killer

I like Sculptor of Flesh the most, but I think it would work better if you went a little more subtle with it. Why not just call him the Sculptor? In my opinion it is much more frightening to give a new meaning to an otherwise benign word, and to let the reader imagine why he is named Sculptor on...

I'm jumping on the bandwagon, and I need help...

The key appeal of the litrpg/isekai/young master tropes, and indeed most of the popular light novel tropes in general, is the completely unapologetic wish fulfillment. Not only does the reader's surrogate character (the MC) get a second chance at their crappy life, they get one in an exciting...
