To be honest, most Xianxia novels lose their lustre after 300 or 400 chapters; the plot becomes repetitive, the characters become dull, and the main character gains power and becomes increasingly powerful. As for some of them that don't fall into this category, my reading time goes for months...

Just read a ton of Chinese novels and you would know everything there is. Oh, and never ever I repeat, never ever forget to write the cliched face slapping done by the protagonist. And there is also a typical harem of jade beauties, iceberg CEO and other stuff.
