For words like realise/realize, which spelling is preferred?

As someone who originally learnt British English I usually try to keep with realise in formal text. On the other hand, on the internet you are exposed mostly to American English and the majority of people use American English, so in chats I usually keep to realize because you simply get used to...

    What's your WPM?

Got 63 with 1 error. Considering I have to type with two fingers while reading a text I think that's rather considerable. One day I will practice writing with 10 fingers again.

Writing Habits That You Can't Break

That link is a godsend. Non-dialogue quotations are the worst. Also, that rule 9 explains why I occasionally see that. Personally feels very jarring and confusing to read an open quotation mark but good to know that this is actually grammatically correct. Some of these rules are different in...

I have posted a new series with a Chapter on Scribblehub but it hasn't showed yet. How much time does it usually take?

The approval process is mostly to determine whether it is really a story or not. Unless you wrote a chapter full of "aaaaaaaaa" it's unlikely to get rejected.

I have posted a new series with a Chapter on Scribblehub but it hasn't showed yet. How much time does it usually take?

Stories have to get manually approved which can take up to 24 hours. As for the views, I don't know whether they even start counting before the story is approved, but they do not update in real-time. They usually update when someone gives a rating for example or when you edit the details.

Why are some parts of Scribble Hub not secured?

Not sure what you are talking about as it is secure for me. Both Firefox and Chrome say it is secure. Have you checked whether it says http instead of https on the main page? EDIT: Though it seems trying to enter with http redirects me immediately to the https anyway. Nevermind, I checked the...

How's the whole virus stuff affecting you?

Personally affected mostly by the fact that my university lectures are a huge mess. They tried to set up online courses but then limited the number of participants, so if you weren't lucky to see the e-mail immediately (on a university intern e-mail system), you had nearly no chance to get into...

    Love confession stories!

Confessed to a girl I knew online before. Though it wasn't really a straight-up confession, it just came up during small talk. The relationship lasted a glorious five days. If you're looking at it generously. After that experience, I turned a little more cautious in regards to relationships...

What kind of reader are you?

The voracious type of reader that reads just about everything and anything that looks remotely interesting—as long as a cute girl is included. I can look past bad writing (or bad translations) to an extent as long as it is understandable. I also don't mind cookie-cutter plots most of the time...

Writing How do you write names?

I'm usually not thinking much about names until I need a name. And once I need a name I usually go around looking for a name that simply sounds nice to me. Has the advantage that I'm not exactly prone to forget a name. Has the disadvantage that I might get stuck with writing because I need a...

    Difference between Readers and Views?

To be a little more accurate: Readers is the stat that shows how many people have put your novel on their Reading List. Some people never make reading lists and others use reading lists to exclude novels they dropped or don't want to see. Also many people have lists of novels they are...

    Question

If you just want to know whether you can sort new chapters in front of the old one, then, yes, you can do that. In your edit page under 'Table of Contents', simply drag and drop a chapter to your desired position. You can drag them with the three lines to the left of each chapter. Once done...

    Fun New Idea: Watermarking Chapters

It's incredibly easy to bypass this. Tony commented on it before as well: https://forum.scribblehub.com/threads/copying-chapters.1433/post-27071

    Clothes Shopping

For pants—or rather jeans—I usually just go to whatever close by store exists. There's not exactly a lot of difference between them anyway, outside of "does it sit well?" For shirts, I have amassed a whole collection of Hard Rock shirts over the years, and they are usually good enough. I'm not...
