How do other sci-fi authors gain readers?

Covers really do better when they have a character for the reader to connect to, in my opinion. I'm not saying a space ship can't work, the space ship could qualify as the 'character' in the cover even. I've seen quite a few nice covers with ships in them. But your current one the space ship...

I know everyone is really passionate about this... but I couldn't help but think to myself the entire time that the thread was: 'Is it possible to earn money without writing smut' not 'Does writing smut make more money than not writing smut?' or 'Is it possible to earn money without writing...

    Review ratings mean nothing

Scribblehub is definitely more laid back on reviews and such. There are a lot more newer authors here as well, and I think the site promotes lesser known (newbie writer) works better than RoyalRoad which lets them languish in obscurity with no views or feedback.

How do you get past the boredom?

I will tell you my experience, because this exact thing happened to me, and I didn't write anything new for almost 18 months after burning out. Essentially, I plotted myself into a corner. When I first started writing the story, it was just for fun and to see where things went. It was a lot of...

*stalker noises intensify* ... ... ... ... Actually, you tell us the story in one of your YouTube videos. The one with the cover impressions.

    "Had"

Excellent bookshelf contents. Also nice pictures, definitely worth 15$ of duct paper and spray paint. Had they been available, I would have bought them too!

Recommendations Best Writing in Scribble hub ?

I want to recommend my story, ShipCore, if you like Sci-fi space stories. I think the quality is good. Maybe not at a professional level, yet, but still pretty good. Please let me know if you think I have an over inflated opinion of it so I can go hide. :sweating_profusely:

This has been bothering me for a while, and I want to know if it bothers you too.

The image thing for sure rubs me the wrong way every time and nothing makes me look away faster. It's a childish thing to do, and there are plenty of free alternatives than stealing something without permission. They don't take that much time, either. If they lack that maturity then it's very...

    Literary laziness

Adverbs are the ultimate enemy. They are often used when you could achieve tighter writing without them. They are telling instead of showing, and should only happen if they aren't creating a tautology. All those -ly words, need axed and replaced with better verbs. But I'm lazy and keep using...

    Patreon's new billing

Oh, that's a good change. When I was running my patreon this was always a huge headache with inevitable 'why was I double charged' people who subbed at the end of the month without understanding that would happen.
