VN = Visual novels. Think of Doki Doki Literature Club or Steins Gate for example. They're essentially books but with gameplay elements. Eroge = porn. As for its origin, I'm not sure since it comes from a Japanese word and I'm not that knowledgeable of the language's etymology.
