What's your editing process? What do you focus on?

I will usually wait till I finish a whole novel. Then I’ll reread it for clarity and flow. Fix anything off there. Then I do another reread after I let it sit for a while for spelling errors and grammar issues. I still don’t catch everything ? But I find if I let it sit for a while between...

Which is your favorite drink: tea or coffee?

I like tea, but it doesn’t like me ? Oftentimes it gives me heartburn. Coffee doesn’t do me like that. I’m always drinking coffee, though I prefer sweeter over bitter and flavored. But I’ll drink whatever if it’s all that’s available (I’m looking at you, work coffee.)

    Managing Multiple WIPs

I literally have OCD. So my brain won’t let me start another project until my current one is finished ? It’s annoying cause I end up with hundreds of notes I have to hang on to for goodness knows how long. And trying not to lose them. I’m writing book 3 of a 4 book series, with ideas for volumes...

    Are these guys AI?

Not on here, but I get those a lot on other platforms. Even my email. My rule is, if they don’t mention the title of the work, it’s most likely a scam. They use generic language so they can mass send out their scams. I’ve even asked what chapter or character someone may have liked and gotten...

Writing As an author, what type of ending maker are you based on?

I have an idea in mind for an ending, but it oftentimes changes as I write. Sometimes the original ending works, other times I let the story tell me how it wants to end.

How does it feel reading an old novel you wrote long ago?

It’s pretty cringe, not gonna lie. Though my first novel came from an idea I began over 20 years ago when I was a teen. Most teens feel everything deeply and so there was big emotions and big action. I’m a lot more subtle in my writing now. But there were still some decent ideas in all that...

That’s the worst. I usually have ideas at the most inopportune times…3 am, work, when I’m supposed to be doing literally anything else. But the well has definitely run dry before.

Where do you get inspiration for your writing?

I write dark fantasy, so I write based on feeling a lot. My books deal with themes of sadness, hope and moral issues. So I tend to draw inspiration through my own lived experiences. Or others experiences. I can’t say any one book has been a huge influence on me, though I loved the Lord of the...

How long do you take to write your novel?

For me, it depends on how much the story talks to me. I tend to do over 2000 words per chapter. Some days, the words come easy. Others I’m staring at a thesaurus trying to decide between one word or the other. To be honest, I began my first novel when I was 16. That was back in 1996. I never...

What are some things you wish you knew when you started writing?

But you did try, and that’s important. A lot of people don’t even make it that far. But you did. And you should feel proud of that

What are some things you wish you knew when you started writing?

To keep writing no matter if you get validation or not. I wrote a lot as a kid and teen and never had anyone to support that outlet. So it felt like it was a waste of time. But nothing you feel passionate about is ever a waste of time. Validation doesn’t equal quality. I grew up and fell back in...
