    Republic or Empire

Well, democracy and a republic are not exactly the same thing. A true democracy would have actual people voting, but since everyone is too lazy for that, we have a republic where representatives do so on our lazy behalves. But the power is still held in the representatives, not exactly the...

The smartest protagonist of any book, movie, anime, cartoon and song is Light Yagami from death note, change my mind

The Lazy King. Because the smartest protagonist doesn't need to go out of their way to accomplish X or Y. He just lets everyone else do it for him as he sleeps all day. And no, not fake lazy where they pretend to be lazy but do all the work, true laziness means laziness.

Have a story featuring politics/nation building? This video is all you need.

Fact of the matter is, humans make terrible rulers. We should be ruled by cats! Cuteness is a treasure that everyone can benefit from! Overall, I will say this. Do note that some of the "rules" for our world only work if the rules of the novel world matches our world. Which is a common...

I seriously consider buying a tablet for writing

Generally, you shouldn't be writing in bed, and looking at a screen interferes with the sleep cycle. Not to mention even if you write on a tablet, it would be annoying. Why not just use voice recording and maybe voice to text to record ideas if you really really must.

Why can’t I read my own novel?!

This is why I have made it a habit to first write the story, then go back and edit the chapters. Only after editing them do I put them up. Because when you first write them, what you write on paper and what you think in your mind are 2 different things. To give you an example it's like you tell...

    Does chapter size matter?

Nope. There is no such thing. Generally while not always possible, I prefer chapters to at least bring something to the table. Which is why volume 1 chapters were 1.5k-2k words, volume 2 chapters were 2k-3k words and volume 3 chapters were 2.5k-4k words. I wasn't aiming for any specific size...

10 reasons why Orks > all

Hey, just because they look a bit on the ugly side doesn't make them an orc, they are humans!

    Personal statement writing tips

I wouldn't call something you are required to do taking the initiative. Not to mention, preparation work for school still counts as homework by definition.

    Personal statement writing tips

A college is still a school just an fyi, at least as far as the dictionary is concerned despite it not often being referred to as such.

    Language Comprehension in Isekai

Pretty sure the language skill being OP in isekai is common enough, even more likely the skill ends up OP if it has "babel" in its name.

    Am I . . . stealing?!

That's like asking, if wheels were invented by someone, does that mean us all using wheels are stealing? End of the day, everything in life is founded by our predecessors and built up on it. (well actually given to us by our cat masters but let us foolish humans believe). You can't do anything...

Any Custom Mechanical Keyboard Nerds Here?

And is that old keyboard rubber dom? Also, what models and type of switches were the 2 keyboards you have? I've had multiple mechanical keyboards. The only failure I had was due to one being a fake mechanical keyboard, and the other one was cause someone put heavy stuff on top of it for a...

Any Custom Mechanical Keyboard Nerds Here?

I wouldn't bother on a custom one. Just simple cherry blue switches. While moving away from qwerty may sound good in theory, in reality is that only works if you plan to forever never use qwerty again. Cause going back and forth between keyboards messes with you. Ah, no. A mechancial keyboard...

Killing a Dragon in the modern day without using modern firearms.

Nuclear can be used more than just a bomb. For example, if you trick the dragon into eating nuclear waste, you'll have a dead dragon pretty soon.

Killing a Dragon in the modern day without using modern firearms.

Does it have a reverse scale? Also, the limit is modern firearms by definition of ejecting projectiles by an explosion. So that means nuclear weapons are a go, chemical weapons are a go, and electromagnetic weapons are also a go?

Decline in moral standards in web novels

As the saying goes, if one pulls too hard, the other pushes back harder. Since novels started to push unrealistic morals, people simply got sick of it. And less than moral novels become more enticing to wash out the palette. There is nothing wrong with emphasizing proper morals, but that should...

Anyone using Grammarly for Windows (the new one)?

You can try LanguageTool. Completely offline open source, you can paste stuff in but you can also integrate directly in the writing software like LibreOffice and Word. I suggest adding ngrams and word2vec for better checking.

    How do you Control Infodumps?

Generally, if you plan to infodump, it is best to get it out of the way early. People can tolerate them better before they immerse themselves in the story. The same thing applies on a per chapter basis, if you plan to infodump, do it early in the chapter before the reader immerses themselves in...
