wow... i love the first part anecdote. (baffled and totally didnt foresaw that, as its rare that creators reveal personal stuff ; also story ez to touch bc of how realistic and true it sounds)
Especially as someone that love justice.
Heck.
Even Re:Zero, with crappy mc, crappy execution and meh plot and dense heroine that is disliked by fans in comparison of a blue hair maid,
succeeded to become very popular series. Anime or not.
Meanwhile. This one didnt.
That is how bad it was fck up.
Same.
We simply wanted a ruthless guy that beat/kill bad guys. Pure brainless but fun slop.
The worse is that the prologue/ch1 basically hinted to this path.
With a utterly ruthless-to-himself MC daring to suicide XXXXX times to travel back 1day each time, to arrive years ago.
Bad guy is bad guy.
MC good guy is true good guy.
Good guy beat bad guy.
That is all.
No sob story, No redemption of bad guy turning good, no deus-machina where bad guy escape or MC miss his killing attack or a big shot appear to save bad guy at last second or some other bs "big background"...
I mean. Suuuuuure, its good, some drama there and there. I cried for the dolls arc. Sure stories need drama.
But goddamn. Reason people read Danmachi and tried at first SSSsuicideHunter, is to see a brainless story where MC beat monsters, lvl up. And get rewarded for it.
Not to see MC become a...
SSSHunter, when you start reading it.
You get the euphoria of : wow he TURN BACK TIME. GENIUS IDEA ! ITS BROKEN OP !
wow he destroyed the bloodline of this bad guy !
COOL ! JUSTICE !
Time to take profits of all future knowledge !
Time to become as famous and replace this bad guy(dead) number1 ...
SSS-rank suicide hunter manhwa
is one, if not biggest example of "drama-overload" problem of KR authors. Especially bc of "comparison".
Danmachi = global success
meanwhile the other is no more.
