When people prefer to confide in AI, is this a sign of a social empathy crisis?

I wonder if you are mistaking an empathic person for a good person. Some people possessing overactive empathy react to someone in pain with anger: "It hurts to see this person suffer. Its their fault I'm in pain. How dare they cry in front of me!? I'm going to bully and insult this person until...

When people prefer to confide in AI, is this a sign of a social empathy crisis?

It sounds like you saw a psychiatrist. Psychiatrists are not therapists, they are medical doctors that specialize in brain chemistry. This tends to not be useful when the issue is stress, anxiety, or loneliness. Every decision they make is informed by statistical analysis, which makes them seem...

Recommendations Dealing with sudden magical mutations

Check out "The Adventures of a Fluffy Fairy". Its less body horror and more silliness, but the protagonist gains and looses appendages like they are chips at a casino.

    Which continent are you from?

Eurasia is one continent. America is two continents, (north and south). And New Zealand is a continent if you ask geologists instead of politicians.

    Does anyone like epic fantasy?

Some of my favorite stories have been epic fantasy. Other times I find them thoroughly off-putting. It strongly depends on the protagonist for me. If the protagonist is ruthless and destructive in the pursuit of their grand goal, then I get sick of them quickly. Same if they are too busy...

Would you merge even if there is a chance of being deleted?

I don't understand why someone might hesitate. I remember Monday and I remember Teusday, and I am just as much me Wednesday. Monday me and Tuesday already merged into Wednesday me, and there is no reason to think that it would be any different if Monday talked to Tuesday before Wednesday.

What's the scariest book you've ever read?

I don't remember the title or author, but it was an account of the holocaust written by a survivor of Auschwitz. We read it in 6th grade. I'm pretty easy to scare with gory visuals, jump scares, and suspenseful soundtracks, but letters on a page don't usually bother me. This one however was...

MC who starts human and then becomes nonhuman?

Being human for a while and then transforming is pretty rare. The few times I have encountered such it was never unwelcome, but I am just fond of transformation stories in the first place.

    How often do you cuss/swear?

I've been trying to swear more, but I keep having some kind of mental block. Even though its just a normal part of communication, I still flinch when I hear the words "damned," "god," and "hell", and merely typing them makes my fingers hurt and sends my heartrate to 110bbm. Putting that mess...

    I Hate Novel Extra Villains

The "Novel's Extra" trope is usually just amnesia with a sprig of parsley for garnish. It can be done well, but the fact that the MC resembles a character in a book they read in their past life usually has little impact on the story overall.

As a clone, would you betray yourself?

Doesn't sound like a power that would be useful very often. As a clone, I would know exactly why I needed two people and immediately cooperate on whatever project that is with the 'not me anymore' capable of mitosis.

How do you cope with depression?

First, you need to visit your primary care doctor. Depression has dozens of root causes including but not limited to: underactive thyroid, mild allergies, vitamin deficiency, vitamin overdose, infection (often including tooth or gum infection), extended noise exposure, high blood pressure, low...

    Questionably positive character descriptions

I was reading this manga, and one panel describes a new princess character. "Gentle mannerisms that make you think of spring. A smile as warm as the sun. A voice that gives off alpha waves." That last one is not a good thing? Alpha waves refer to one of two things. First, it is an old name for...

I'd be patient zero. The apocalypse starts with me.

[Rant] I laugh whenever social media claimed that human is destroying Nature

Killing everything would actually be incredibly difficult. There exist several kinds of microbes that live inside solid rocks. Some kinds of garnets have microscopic tunnels that bacteria have slowly eaten their way through at a rate of 1mm/1kyr. To kill this kind of critter, simply boiling the...

The NOAA is Letting Me Down...

Well they did fire a lot of people. The theory is that you can get 80% quality with only 50% of the budget, and the last 20% of quality probably wouldn't have saved any lives anyway. Do we really need a hurricane forecast 5 days out? Maybe 4 days is enough for quick evacuations. So the current...

    Digimon VS Pokemon

Digimon are stronger than Pokemon. The animes started out about even but the writing dropped in quality for digimon after two or three seasons. I actually like the newer pokemon games. Pokemon also had a lot of good peripheral games. Pokemon are better looking than digimon.

Help me decide what to read next

Macbeth is one of the finest examples of Mr. Shakespear's lasting influence on the English language. It is full of phrases, words, and contractions that have no historic precedent but remain in common use today.
