Thanks @Scribbler I generally like to ask questions that I would like to answer myself, as a novice writer. Generally, in writing communities, you hear a lot about what you SHOULD do but not much on what you SHOULDN'T do so I thought this topic would be thought-provoking enough to help out...

Writing What makes a character unlikable ? ( An alternative to Yorth's thread)

According to you, what are the certain pet peeves and mistakes that a writer should not fall into when crafting their protagonist ?

    Writing Animals in Fantasy

Depends on the level of world-building you want to go for. But I don't advise you to. Just keep the same animals and change the names slightly like adding a noun or an adjective before them. It can be either be an attribute or a location. For example, there is a province in my work called Kersa...

    The YA epidemic...

I just don't understand the appeal. Like...what's so satisfying about such abusive narratives ? why are they trending to begin with ? Feminism fought a long way and definitely not for this.

    The YA epidemic...

It's quite disturbing actually. Writing fanfics about fictional characters is okay but actual real people ? that's when it becomes weird. Imagine someone out there writing a fanfic about you having sex with them ? The thought of it alone would make you hide under your bed and never come out.

    The YA epidemic...

I need to get this off of my chest because if I don't, I might explode or smthg. So, few hours ago I was browsing Inkitt and I noticed a trend among the most viewed novels on their hot list. I will give you some of the tittle just so you can get an idea : Falling for the Alpha, Rejected by the...

Pickin Fights With Other Sites! Scribblehub Banzai! <(`^´)>

Wattpad, while more liberal than RR, is a brutal place for newcomers. Their trending page is also the same YA crap of the same genre, which is a similar problem to what SH has. SH is more chill overall and in here, a writer can find an audience even for their most 'questionable' of works. RR is...

    New author looking for feedback

The premise is interesting but I have to agree with @Assurbanipal_II . There is much more dialogue than needed. Generally speaking, there are three main purposes as to why a writer would substitute narration with dialogue. The dialogue needs to : Reveal characters Progress plot Set tone If the...

Writing How? Realistic Religion and Magical Fantasy Settings

There is very little of me to add after the many, great and thought-provoking replies others have already given you. But I can say one thing, if your novel is about world-building, including religion is a great way to give your universe more depth and tangibility. To effectively write about...

    What makes a good character?

A good character is a 'human' character and by 'human' I don't mean the race aspect. A human character is one who isn't perfect, who struggles, who has ideologies and convictions, who has fears and dreams, who loves, hates and hurts. The whole purpose of literature and fiction is to understand...

That sounds like a great and effective way to get over what I'm experiencing. I'm sincerely gratefully ?. I will go and move to a different scene in the chapter and go back to the one I've struggling with later on.

Those days when you feel like crap, and that nothing you write will ever amount to anything...

It's not the thought of rewriting that makes me angry. I rewrite and edit all the time. It's the dissatisfaction and the disappointment of retrying something many times over and still not getting the result you desire. I think this is a curse of being a perfectionist or an overly self-critical...
