Resolved Just published the first chapter of something I'm writing, and it hasn't shown up yet.

You need to wait for Tony to come online before he can manually approve your series. There's no set time for that, so it just takes patience.

(Poll) How would you describe yourself on the masculinity/femininity gender spectrum?

I'm a woman with a strong but complicated relationship with gender nonconformity. How masculine or feminine I feel really depends on the day, so I can't answer a poll like this.

What's the point of gender bender if it never matters?

I do wish people made better use of GB. Even if you're not going to treat the transformation very seriously, there are things you can do that make the GB an interesting and relevant part of the plot. I have to say, though, that the worst use of GB isn't by weirdos who think they need it to be...

    Crossing Gender Mentality

As in they're: less encouraged to speak up and more encouraged to be polite even at their detriment encouraged to be less direct when they speak in order to spare people's feelings less encouraged to be proactive and solve problems discouraged from taking the lead in romantic situations (it's...

    Crossing Gender Mentality

Living a long time and having a relationship means nothing. My dad's been married for twenty years and he still treats women like the Other. Idiocy and sexism has no sell-by date. The only things I could think that might differ are a result of social conditioning. For example, women are taught...

Liking yuri and liking yaoi aren't mutually exclusive, though. I was a BL fan before I learned to appreciate GL. Besides, Lio's my type~! Galo's just a tag along.

    Crossing Gender Mentality

The problem isn't male writers describing attractive women, it's the ridiculous and/or degrading way they do it. Or the way that they describe literally every female character in a "sexy" (read: creepy) manner, largely focusing on their breasts and how well they live up to the author's idea of...

    Crossing Gender Mentality

I mean, if you write a woman that's vacant of all personality and personal goals apart from loving some guy, you're doing a bad job and you're going to get called out on it. The same goes for if that's the only type of woman you ever write. The only resource I can think to recommend to people...

    Crossing Gender Mentality

My best advice would be to not fall into the trap of thinking of us as an alien species that you need to study up on to understand. Also to avoid believing the lies of incels and other people who think women really are an alien species.

My "The Heart is a Sea" is fairly fluffy. You can find it here: https://www.scribblehub.com/series/148315/muirgen-amp-other-tales/ There are also several fluffy tales in the original anthology. If you click on the glossary, you can take your pick from the descriptions. The whole anthology is...

    Opinion that is Unpopular

I like author's notes. Don't understand the people who hate them at all. Sure, the SH ones are a bit gaudy in their design, but isn't the joy of web fiction having the author around while you read? I love them so much that it makes my day when people translating novels also translate the...

    Agree Or No?

Some writers really do think that they're a god for doing something a five year old can do. Sometimes it's a phase folk go through when developing as a writer. Sometimes that just becomes who they are. You're right about reader engagement, though, although whether it's morally wrong or just...

    Mood as a filterable feature

Yes, I would be fine if mood wasn't compulsory. However, that could negatively affect the exposure of people who don't wish to put their story in a relatively shallow box. Honestly, authors not being able to represent their work is just a problem we all have to live with as webnovel readers...

    Mood as a filterable feature

Even then, I don't think I could fit my stories on a diagram like that. I can't fit any of the books I've read or the series I've watched there, either.

    Mood as a filterable feature

These just plain don't work if you're writing enough depth and variety into your stories... Everything on this is either "everything is glorious and victory assured" or "everything is shit and everyone is shit". A world should be far more complicated than that. Maybe resurrection and victory is...

    Mood as a filterable feature

It's impossible to categorise the whole spectrum of moods for stories with a few randomly chosen labels. Also, it would be incredibly suffocating as an author and would encourage people to write more shallow stories to avoid breaking their compulsory "mood".
