Since you're allowing fanfic, Embers by Vathara is amazing. The world building, all the characters, the plot, it's all so complex and interlocking and highly recommend if you've seen Avatar: the last Airbender.

Hmm the novel feels more like mystery, while the donghua plays more to the cute interactions between characters

Still a staple! There are definitely stories that don't have seme/uke, or switching/reversible couples, but they are not nearly as popular, generally speaking.

So. Me being nonbinary. Would mean I was 50-50 transported to world with all (cis) women or all (cis) men. 1. Almost everything is "crossdressing" when you're nonbinary in my opinion....It depends on how wide the gender expression/clothing style of the world is, but I suspect I will be feeling...

Given that each character tends to have multiple names (name and title and alter egos...) I would probably say yes ? which is why I recommend reading part of the manhua or watching part of the donghua first so that you can get a grasp of the characters and settings...

It's pretty good! I think watching it first isn't sooo bad, it helped me visualise the characters and the setting. It also makes reading the start of the novel less confusing lol. And now that I'm also reading it, I can now get extra background information that the donghua left out.

Lately I've been watching Heaven's Official Blessing! The (fan) art is so good and I took the plunge to finally watch (and read) it :blob_pout:

You can have an art event at the same time as a writing event as one event, where submissions are open to any form (art, written, podfics etc.) If you want to merge art into written pieces, you basically want to run something like a Big Bang, where artists match up with writers and illustrate...
