Have you seen the training quest in the Quest Board (Not the first page)? You can train with people there, and then ask to buy a used bow and some arrows off them.

Adsall used to sell stuff for cheap. But he's still in the process of being reincarnated.

That's a way to use the shop I guess...

Have him have game syndrome, where he thinks he's still in a game and breaks into someone's garden and chops down their tree.

He has a map skill, archery is basically the coward's assassin. It'd seem like a good fit for him. Just my suggestion though.
