Is there anything you have regretted writing?

Not unless I've already deleted it from my brain. Every mistake I've ever made in writing has later made for a funny story for friends.

so what are the rules in regards to comments in chapters. just had what i assume is the author deleting a whole comment chain

No, I actually do stop paying small-time authors who are shit towards readers. Why wouldn't I? People show their true colours in moments like that. And if I let other people know what that author did, they generally also stop enjoying and paying them. Authors who harass readers show themselves...

so what are the rules in regards to comments in chapters. just had what i assume is the author deleting a whole comment chain

??? On the contrary, I stop being able to enjoy a creator's work once they show themselves to be a cunt, and I immediately pull all funding. Creators have been boycotted en masse many times before over their mistreatment of fans. It's pretty obvious that PR matters in the long run?

so what are the rules in regards to comments in chapters. just had what i assume is the author deleting a whole comment chain

No, I'm just saying that those who can't handle star ratings definitely can't handle written feedback, therefore forcing written feedback would go against their interests. Writers are better off improving themselves so that one star ratings won't destroy their entire self-esteem.

    Your Perfect Anti-Waifu/Husbando/etc.

People who are so macho/girly, it feels like they can only be forcing it and you start to feel suffocated just being around them. Men are prone to that whole "I am the man, I must do X!" shit. Women tend to start talking about "feminine energy" and deciding for you that you over-identify with...

    Modular Feedback system

Authors are desperate for their work to be read and sometimes that drives them to do disgusting and honestly kind of stupid stuff. Certain genres are abused more than others on SH. If a desperate author thinks they can tick a genre box off based on a little sprinkling of bait they put in one or...

so what are the rules in regards to comments in chapters. just had what i assume is the author deleting a whole comment chain

It's not the system - it's the act of writing. If you take away stars and force people to write, they'll hurt even more, because at least with stars they can tell themselves that it's just a troll or that person is dumb. If everyone has to voice exactly why they like or dislike something, it...

    Modular Feedback system

Reviews are for readers, not writers, so it would be a bad idea to let people opt out of those. It lets readers warn potential newcomers not only about the quality of the novel, but also if the author lied about the genres of their novel or tried to trick readers into reading triggering material...

so what are the rules in regards to comments in chapters. just had what i assume is the author deleting a whole comment chain

Reviews are for readers, not for writers. They're not feedback, they're just opinions placed there to help other potential readers make their decision as to whether or not they want to pick up this book. They're also much harder to write than people give credit for. In order to write a review...

Types and Styles of Gender Bender

You actually don't need to be stuck in your virtual body for a virtual gender bender. "1/2 Prince" by Yu Wo is a classic of the virtual reality genre, and also a classic female-to-male gender bender using VR - but the MC is just logging on and off normally. Likewise, there was a gender bender...

    Some programatic validation for ratings

Would this cause problems if someone removes it from their reading list after rating, though? Do they then technically count as having read 0 chapters?

    Trolls?

Few people ever comment to troll. When they do, it's best to just ignore them altogether. Nothing irritates a troll more than a complete lack of response. Some people keep lists for novels they've dropped or finished, so it's possible for them to end up there, if readers were so inclined.

The different do's and don'ts when writing stories.

It's not mainstream, it's just more visible. But characters casually sharing their pronouns would be considered "political" and unwelcome to many people outside of queer culture, and perfectly everyday to people within it. In fact, when writing fiction for queer folk, that so-called "political"...

    Isekai in sexist world

The only one I can think of right now (beyond the usual amounts) is my own "Muirgen", but I think it's maybe not what you're searching for? The MC is a man reborn as a noblewoman in a very strict, sexist society, and his father uses the excuse that a man would be able to achieve more than a...

Are you good at attracting attention? (Poll)

The best strategy is to run into class topless on the first day and do a cheerleading dance that spells out your name. Repeat it throughout the year. You'll die of shame, but at least that's metaphorical. That should probably get you in the top 10%, so long as you make an effort to actually talk...
