Trending is biased to favor new stories so that they would get more exposure. And trending is also about having a significant increase in your statistics. So if your story only has an average, middling participation stats with barely any growth, you'll never get to it.

Unless you already have a good working relationship with the artist, half upfront and half after completion seem to be fair.

I used to write 1k word per chapter and I got complaints about it. Upped it to 2k and I still got people saying it should be 3k. So I went 3k and I've stayed there ever since.

I'm not sure how well I'm doing with my story, but I have a pretty engaged regulars who often comments on stuff relating to the story. And sometimes they would even discuss it amongst themselves. And I love that. ?. On the other hand, my growth in views and readers are kinda stagnating though...

I both have a story to share while at the same time desiring interaction with my readers (positive ones, of course). If I felt I wasn't getting enough appreciation, I probably would stop writing if I were to be honest. Already did once with an old story not posted here.

I've been wondering about this actually. All the trending stories seem to be pretty good on this site. And if you're talking about the site as a whole, well, RR has mostly mediocre stuff as well. Not to mention Wattpad which has the most amount of garbage on it.

I have two readers that really love suggesting/correcting/asking about the plot, so if I go 20 chapters ahead, I can't really adapt to their comments.
