    Music while writing.

I've been writing since I was 8. >.< I've grown up writing and can't imagine my life without it. :giggle: I'm currently working on what I call my Family Gossip Memoirs. It's a labour of love.

    Music while writing.

Not really, I did a degree in English Lit so alot of my exams were short or long essays, etc.... then the sort of jobs I did required lots of writing too....I lost my desire to write for the pure joy of it again until the last few years. What I lost in joy I gained in practical experience...

    Creativity

Here is a writing exercise for you: Take an every day event, any event you like, and describe it from the point of view of an alien that does not understand human customs.... You can imagine yourself to be an alien Jaque Cousteau or David Attenburough or Steve Irwin. >.<

    Music while writing.

For me, it depends on what I'm writing because sometimes I use music to inspire me for particular things. i.e. a character, a feeling, overall theme. If I need to plow through lots of writing, I get into the groove with Metallica. There is something about their music that just gets me through...

Maybe you were young enough not to be affected by it....Kids and their exposure to violence etc and how it affects them is kind of fascinating so thank you for answering. My favourite book as a kid was Grimms Faerie tales...I was never really into Disney. :) I'd continue asking questions...

How much detail can there be in graphic scenes, before it becomes too much?

At what age did you watch Watership Down? I've heard horror stories from British friends of mine that were taken to watch it at the movie theatres expecting a cute kiddie story when they were kids (because of how it was marketed I am told) only to be horrified towards the end when the bloodshed...

How much detail can there be in graphic scenes, before it becomes too much?

Readers taste is really subjective. It's up to you, esteemed author, to make it real and relevant to your reader. It would depend on how well you can take the reader with you into your plot.... in saying that, it also depends on your audience i.e. who picks up your novel and with what...
