What would make someone drop a story?

Honestly sometimes I just drop stories because I get tired of the genre. Like... sometimes I'm *too into* a particular genre and I start reading like 30 stories that fit that genre/theme... but once I get tired of it, well now I have 30 stories of a concept I'm not really into anymore. So...

From one star rating to five

    I give a 5 to things I like. If I don't like it, I don't usually leave a rating at all.

How to deal with author's guilt?

For me, I just try to keep communication flowing. I'm not perfect about it, but I do like to make posts on my profile saying "yo, things suck, no Chappy for a bit" or whatever. People seem to like that. I mean I've had a couple stories go two months without updates before, just because I've made...

    Describe Your Voice

A bit nasally, somewhat pixie-like. I sound like a child on the phone, even though I'm very much an adult.

How much money before you turn full-time?

I'm not the primary breadwinner for my household or anything, so I think $1,000/month would be just enough for full time. Though I would probably keep a part time job even at that amount just to be safe. Better to build savings you don't need than to end up with a bill you can't pay.

    Question for comedy writers

So, my main genre isn't comedy for any of my stories. But, when I write something I intend for others to laugh at, I'm usually dying cackling on the floor for like a full 5 minutes. I'm pretty easy to amuse so I'm not saying that I believe my readers find it that humorous but if I don't laugh...

    Bruh

That Christmas tree got swept off its feet. I'm looking forward to the Hallmark channel romcom about its new life with the robber and their honeymoon in the pacific north west together.

Average amount of planning and outlining.

5-10 pages of notes. Though I normally continue to expand and refine my notes as a story matures. I don't wait till I know everything before I start writing, otherwise a project just stalls and I lose the desire to write it.

What do you do outside Scribblehub?

I like to draw, though I don't consider myself more than a hobbyist at it. I read a lot of big western fantasy novels, things I have to buy on kindle/nook/kobo (choose e-book reader flavor you are the least upset with) I'm also the one who does most of the cooking at my house so I guess I'm...

    Anyone play POE?

I played them both in order, the opening doesn't really change, you still go into the character creator, only difference is the default character is your character from the previous game. But it lets you mod everything, and then just pretends like you're the same person.

    Anyone play POE?

I really loved Deadfire and wanted to replay it (never beat the game) but... the game's opening is soooo slow, I just don't want to deal with the whole ship wreck opening again, so I've been putting it off.

How does everyone feel about Webnovel and how they treat their authors

I haven't heard anything positive about them, but I've never shared my stories on any site except for scribblehub, so I have no personal experience to speak from.

How long is the ‘perfect chapter’? Both to read and write?

I think the answer changes over time. I used to be hard into chapters that were between 1k and 1.5k words... but recently. I feel like 1,800 to 2,800 is the real sweet spot.

If time was frozen for 24 hours, what would you do?

This is def my answer. I'd take all the money and not even feel bad.

Underused and overused magical creatures in fiction.

In my opinion fae, in general, are often underused. They may show up for side content, or you may have elves with "fae magic" but as far as pixies, sprites, etc go... they're rarely used in any meaningful way. I'd love to see an evil pixie demon lord. As for overused... Wyverns. But by the...

How many words do you write a day?

after I came back from burnout I started averaging about 4k per day... but now I've given myself carpal tunnel and have to wear a heavy splint on one hand that makes typing slow and sucky. I'll be lucky if I average 1k a day now.

    Regarding Tags

One thing to note OP, all stories have a maximum number of 25 tags. Some authors just run out of space to add new tags. I'm certain that some tags may be more relevant than others, but choosing tags can sometimes be more of an art than a science. Also, on a secondary note, sometimes authors...
