    Flourish vs plot

Answer: When you get the feeling that a lot less happened in this chapter compared to previous chapters. Explanation: I think as long as you stay consistent there is no too much or too little flourish. Some readers like a lot, some readers like none. If you stay consistent, your current...

Do you look at the glossary?

The problem with the glossary is that it is not easy to see, at a glance, if there is a glossary for any particular novel. You have to click on the glossary-button to find out. I sometimes click on the glossary of novels I may want to read but am not yet sold on. Oftentimes to find no glossary...

    Question...(unrelated to writing).

I really envy those who can stay positive, even after experiencing a lot of negative events. But you can have a lot of experience without all that crap. If you are born wealthy. Have a linear career. From Kindergarten to Retirement. Have lots of kids and grandkids. And do stuff with them each week.

What does the unreliable narrator even mean.

Basically, a narrator who does not tell you what happened. Often they tell you how they perceive the situation. They could say that they saved the princess from the evil beast, but the princess was already mentally damaged beyond repair. When in fact the narrator killed her pet-dragon and she...

[Request] A Comprehensive Guide to Blob Language

I doubt it is a 'she' These Blobs seem pretty asexual to me. The Blob gobbled up the story and is in dire need of more, as you can never have enough cookies. Just some happy blob, presumably because he stole all the cookies. And nobody knows where it hid them.

    What makes a hatable villain?

if you want others to hate someone, give them something they don't deserve. have them be smug about it, and give them more things they do not deserve. then have them take credit for other people's work, and thus gain more things they do not deserve.

    Chapter Length.

Heavily depends on the kind of story. If it is hard to read or induces strong emotions I like them shorter. But if they are easy to read and focused on an actual plot I like them longer. The pace of the story is also important. Chapters where basically nothing is happening are just infuriating.

Y'all Ever had that Moment when You can only Write at a specific time?

sometimes I write my stories in my dream and then I get confused when I wake up and all that writing is not saved (cause it was never written). Sad thing is I can barely remember anything I wrote in my dreams. When I actually write on my laptop I do so mostly in the dead of night. P.S...

What would the modern warfare look like if gunpowder was never discovered?

I apologise for my poor wording. Not most weapons in use. But from what I know, (aside from weapon-systems, and specialisations for urban warfare), recent research focusses on these kinds of things. There are also some relics of WWII which had the use these kinda methods in mind (like a...

What would the modern warfare look like if gunpowder was never discovered?

Rail guns still work though. Most modern weapons don't use gunpowder; there are sound-, light-, water-, magnetic-based weapons. The question is: aside from warfare, what else changes? Example: mining (no TNT). This leads to a reduced rate of resource-extraction, which means industrial growth...
