Advice thread on Writing LN and Webnovels

In a sense the first arc was originally intended as a the prequel. But the hero of the first arc began overtaking the second book, and became the central antagonist to Nadine, who shows up through out part two. In this case, Hemato is Nadine's Yang. Another comparison is between Mario and Wario...

Advice thread on Writing LN and Webnovels

Something that it didn't occur to me to ask earlier, is devoting the entire first arc to building up the bad guy a bad strategy? The main character of the first arc is suppose to be the old hero, and how they were driven insane by brain experiments comparable to say ... Nova from manga like...

Resolved Hiding but not deleting chapters?

Ah OK! Thank you very much. I didn't know this. Edit: For those new to the site that don't know where it is, you can find that in the edit section, and you can switch your published version to draft.

Writing How do you write romance?

As much of a downer ending as I can possibly imagine, without upsetting romance readers.

    Username and Avatar

In my case it was an old children's fiction pen name I had. Avatar is from a concept art I worked on for Nadine, my main character. She's suppose to have the "mom" look, and not traditional attractiveness.

Resolved Hiding but not deleting chapters?

I wonder if it might be possible to someday hide but not delete chapters? I have it backed up on Listed to of course.

Pickin Fights With Other Sites! Scribblehub Banzai! <(`^´)>

If you mean Royal Road, I managed to get a three stars on there. Not sure what that's equivalent to here. A friend said that's like a five on Amazon. ... I'm not sure it's that good. Hopefully decentish. This was in the previous version, not sure how the most current edit would be viewed. One...

Advice thread on Writing LN and Webnovels

How are series handled, and what if a particular work is taking a super long time to edit? I have one, where I wrote it over the last ten years, and still need to perfect it. Wrote a few others in the mean time. I'm thinking of Light Novels as a side thing for doing graphic novels eventually...

Do you keep songs/playlists for stories and characters?

Sort of, I keep a music playlist. But nothing character specific: https://www.invidio.us/watch?v=MEJAiWWWW5M

How did you improve your writing style?

Studying poetry actually, as recommended by Brandon Sanderson. Yes I know, a scifi writer listening to Brandon.

Things you like to do before writing?

This depends on the writing: for poetry listening to Spanish, French, and Portuguese music. The more traditional the better. When writing fiction, screenplays, comic script, and drawing I tend to prefer the environment as quiet as possible. I should qualify I used to prefer synthwave, but it's...

Note I'll be completely oveerhauling the second half of my work, and revert it to the "short stories that build toward a novel" format again.

Sensitivity Reader, do you use them?

Yea I'm leaning toward not using one myself.

Sensitivity Reader, do you use them?

For context, this is what a sensitivity reader is: Have any of you ever found this useful? I have my own specific issues with it, although not for the same reasons "that is censorship" people do. Mostly I feel like as long as the author is hiring them themself, I see no issue with it. It's...

Feeling intimidated by the bombastic language people use in their stories.

Don't worry about it! I like words like structureless tyranny, breadlines, radical centrism, inverted totalitarianism, marxist-leninism, fascism, and so on. As long as you know those words and use them well, it shouldn't be to jarring. I even like creating new words, like for my conlang...

Who's the Most OP Character You Created?

Averted, Nadine is technically able to cheat, but the game world adapts accordingly. The game world is itself a self-aware entity that was once human, and the human-body by its nature doesn't tend to like foreign intrusions. Which makes sense, as we're talking a game world that's hundreds of...

    What makes you stop procrastinating?

I realize at some point my book's going to need to be edited, and I stop pushing it off. Though with my earliest work that's especially difficult as I was in a completely different mindset at that point.
