I believe fan-translating non-licenced works is legally fine. Making money from selling that is not fine. However, granting access via patreon for more fan-translated chapters, aka focusing the market on the translation work and not the novel itself, is as close as you get to passing it legally...

I'm a dreamer, writing is the easiest method out of many to bring such visions into a visible format.

Don't allow a lack of motivation to stop you from writing, endure and persist, and in no time you'll be amazed at your journey. Take it from someone who went for English as his fourth language.

Glad to be of help! Figured I'd extend it a tad more, seeing as most people complain but don't really advise better. The most famous ones being the "show don't tell" but lack either the skill or the will to contribute further in the matter. I see no review there though? Was it via comment?
