    Author's experience in Scribble Hub

Overall very good. You get very kind readers, and a relatively active platform, but not as much traffic as webnovel or royalroad could potentially get you. In general, I don't think you need to worry about people stealing your work. I'm sure piracy sites exist, but to my knowledge there are no...

    Chapter Length.

3k+ because anything shorter is not a coherent self-contained chapter and you forget important things from the last chapter when it's released piece-meal. Most 1k word chapters are made that way purely to conform with webnovel consumer habits where readers want fast-pace updates. No physical...

    Increased integration with novelupdates

I know that there has been an increasing integration with the two sites over time, but would it be desirable to index the original novels that are posted here and make them searchable on novelupdates? For example, adding an English tag, but maybe make it opt-out by default. I ask because I...

What would the modern warfare look like if gunpowder was never discovered?

You would have an extended spanish style colonial era, with really good metalworking, ships, and horses. Eventually you'd get guns though, unless you removed fire entirely, and even without fire there are other ways to launch a bullet.

Authors: What was your reaction to your first 1 star rating?

It hurts less when you realize it's often not about your writing at all. I wouldn't say to disregard reader input entirely, but when writing the story go with what you enjoy, not what you think people will like. If you spend dozens of hours writing to please someone else, you're not going to...

How can you develop a story pace properly?

I mean there's a couple things that go into pacing in my opinion. Long-term plot. You have to have at least something in mind to move plot forward on a grander scale. Otherwise you will end up with an unorganized mess if you write anything of decent length. Mid-term plot. 'story-arcs'...

fortnite pulled a "fight against 1984" because apple started pulling their game off the app store

Apple and Google are notoriously greedy in how they run the app/ play store. And yet, Epic games manages to come across as even slimier than the both of them. We are watching a truly machiavelian mega-corp battle play out. My take is Epic deliberately got themselves banned and are making a...

    Deciding on a story title

The worse your story title the better it will do.

Writing How do you all write so much???

It takes quite a while for me to write, but this is pretty much my hobby now. Whenever I would usually be watching tv, I'm writing now instead. Hopefully I don't get burnt out, but it does eat a lot of my free time. About an hour or two on weekdays sometimes, but mainly on weekends. I'm...

Resolved Newly released chapter is invisible

Thanks! Seems that fixed the issue. Not sure what was causing it, but I suppose I'll chalk it up to some random bug. The only thing I can think is that I saved an edit right about at the same time it was supposed to be pushing the chapter to live.

Resolved Newly released chapter is invisible

Just for clarification the novel is about a month old.

Resolved Newly released chapter is invisible

Chapter is published but not visible to viewers, doesn't show up in chapters or recently updated. I scheduled this one to be released and edited it right before the timer, so not sure if it has something to do with that.

To read, or not to read?

I tend to only read stories that are popular and have a lot of content. I will pretty much wait until a series has 40k+ words before giving it a try, then I binge read the whole thing.

    Describe Your Ideal Game

A dark-themed and well thought out RPG world. Diablo 2 was one of my favorites back in the day. Divinity 2 was the best modern game of this type that I've played, but the first island was by far the best.

Bad Rating Sucks. But was it really a troll?

There for sure are people who legitimately rate as 1 star. As an author it definitely hurts to see, and I feel like a lot of times people see it as an overly harsh 'I disagree' button, but I realize not everything I write is going to be someone else's cup of tea. In some cases they just really...

    Creepy Girl

It's not exactly creepy but I see what you mean. I think it's something like that 'uncanny-valley'. It looks very plastic-toned like a 3D model of a toy, but not cartoony enough to evade looking weird. Overall very well done, impressive modeling work.

Is this something that I should expect? Question regarding reader retention

For a novel only being up for 2 days that's not bad at all, better than my initial stats at least. I was getting like 70 views my first few days. People adding it to the reading list is encouraging, since that is rarer than favorites here. I think it's too early to be drawing any conclusions...

What to do when you have too much dialogue?

Pad in reaction sentences between dialogue. Describe how the character reacts to what they are being told. Helps to break up a wall of back-and-forth, and adds detail. If you have too much for a section, maybe transition to exposition for the last bits. Just explain from a narrator's view what...

    chances of recognition

This is my own personal observation, but I think if you really want to cater to this audience here then basically write like you're posting on a forum rather than writing a novel. Look at every top novel here and you'll notice that everything is written in what are basically single sentence...
