How far will you read before a story "hooks" you?

Honestly if I read a story it's because I expect it to be good. Whether that is based off popular reception, a good synopsis, or whatever. If I were to quit a story it wouldn't be because it didn't hook me, but rather because it had tropes and events which I just didn't agree with.

Let's talk about Husbandos [Waifus are also welcome (>W0)]

Well I guess I'll throw in my two cents here with my ideal waifu 1. I prefer her to have dark bags/circles under her eyes. 2. I prefer her to be emotionless but then once in a while show a small bit of emotional response. 3. I prefer her to be kinda messy looking and flawed I guess 4. Flat...

thinking too much about my writing

I mean as I always say, writing is all about fun. If you don't enjoy your story, how will anyone? I write for fun. I like throwing in crazy characters, horrid backstories, and strange quirks. There is also a lot of fun in having a deep rooted plot, some emotional development, and so on and...

What kind of music do you guys listen to (If you do) to get you writing?

Ehh I guess it just depends on my mood. I would say my default is game ost music but I just sorta go with the flow most of the time.

What kind of music do you guys listen to (If you do) to get you writing?

I listen to so much music. When I was younger I was really into old school hiphop especially stuff from the 90s and early 2000s. Still love that stuff today but I opened up to a lot more since then. I started listening to jazz, funk, orchestral, classical, rock, you name it. I especially...

This isn't against the rules is it? Talking about other stories on yours?

As far as I know, this is perfectly acceptable. Its basically the same as a shoutout, so no worries. Of course I haven't read the rules, but I don't see any reason why this would be against them.

Are you 'Pantser' or a 'Plotter'?

For me its sorta both. I almost always have a plan and an outline, but that plan molds itself as I go. Sometimes it changes into something else completely, other times, the way in which it comes about it completely made up on the spot. Other times still, I plan a scene from miles away and...

Writing Future Scene Ideas - Write now or Make notes for later?

World anvil is something that I heavily considered at one point and it looked very promising, however I was already so far into my story that it would have taken too long for me to get all my information down in there.

Writing Future Scene Ideas - Write now or Make notes for later?

I have a file folder on my computer. This file folder contains information on my story. This file folder is filled with like 30 documents and more folders within it, which detail almost everything that I ever have planned and or done in my story. Plot notes. Volume outlines. Character...

    Harem or single heroine?

Im always gonna prefer a single heroine because if you go harem there are really 3 possibilities. 1. The hero never goes with any of em, either because hes too dumb or cant choose. 2. The hero goes with all of em like the scumbag he is. 3. The hero picks one. In this case, theres a good...

What kind of tropes/genres/plots/cliches do you usually look for when reading a brand new [web]novel?

Ill be honest, I am a big fan of people being driven to the point of madness and then getting deep revenge on the people who hurt them.

Discussion: What do you think makes the story good?

Few things imo. 1. I am fine with a weak mc, however I would like to see some growth. I want the mc to either become a badass or a madman. Preferably both. 2. I personally think that the details are very important. The small things that make you go 'OHH!!' I love it when things are tied...

How do you maintain confidence in your story...

And dont doubt yourself. Be persistant. If you enjoy it, it is good in some way. Dont think that because you dont get a lot of popularity that its bad and that you should give up. I wrote 14 freaking volumes of my novel, uploading daily for almost a year with very little actiivty. Almost every...

How do you maintain confidence in your story...

My only answer is write something that you enioy. Throw other people out the window. Dont write to please others, write something that you enjoy yourself. If you dont enjoy it nobody will, so stop trying to please everyone else and have some fun.
