I feel like for me, the first person narration isn't really helping me self-insert into the story. The protagonist's personality and speech pattern is quite different from mine, and hearing their thoughts distinctly makes it feel like it's not me.

I was thinking about stuff, and I'm always surprised by how my feelings for certain things last. You'd think that it would go away or fade over time, but it's weird how things can be still be tender even after more than a year of not thinking about it.
