My own reading record is 77 completed stories, including one-shots and stories completed off-site, against 75 stories either with very slow and irregular updates, or, more often, in permanent hiatus, not including ones I stopped reading before the hiatus or that were deleted from both my list...

It actually baffles me how many authors seem to think reviews exists exclusively for their benefit, and get pissy when you write one aimed at potential readers. Though I'm noticing it's more prevalent among authors who can't handle criticism.

Part of it is laziness. Another part is, if I'm not sure what to say in the review, I just don't. Same if I think what I could write is too subjective, rather than addressing the objective qualities of the story. Also, I'm better at picking out the negative qualities of a story to talk about...

There's only so much relevance my points can have without the full context of your world or at least the beads' exact effects, but... Firstly, apparently the beads have enough power to comfortably propel (presumably) adult human woman 400 feet into the air, but barely even whip the grass around...

As a reader, I would say for points 2 - 4 it really depends on what kind of story you are writing, and how much of a central stage do you want the romance to be in it. There is no "one answer fits all" in there. Sometimes getting the couple together right from the start is what you want...

But if there's no frisction, that means you are not interacting with air in any way... so no breathing either. Can you hold your breath long enough to come out the other side of Earth?

There have been a lot of people banned "for no reason" recently... IIRC one was a known scammer, another posted AI-generated slop, I think there was a translator in there too?
