Horror and mystery are my old stand-by genres. I used to be a real horror-fanatic when I was younger, but now I'm more drawn to the mystery side of things. Of course, fantasy (or dark fantasy) comes at a close third, because it's a more recent foray.

It's nice to think of having the best of two worlds in one package, but I'd imagine it would also come with some baggage: there are things the MC would have to navigate in the world of any story b/c of that, and making creative decisions on stuff like that would feel awkward.

I think the writer meant 'only-child' children. Just saying.
