What's your least liked or most hated part of writing?

For me, I hate coming up with a title. Sometimes it's easy. As I'm writing, a title pops into my head (such as with DragonBound). Other times, I start with the title (Lay the Dragon). But more often than not, neither of these are the case, and I end up going through like 4-10 working titles...

    I dodged a bullet.

I feel personally called out.... I've written some dark smut in my time and have been going more towards fluff smut as an opposite to dark themes. Abusive childhood counterbalancing a fluff-smut romance between the MC and LI.

Should dialogue and action be split by a period or a comma?

Anytime I see the word "never" I feel compelled to find examples to prove it wrong. Writing IS art. There are rules for what can be done? No. there are rules for what others think is good. Doesn't mean it's the only way. And with the rise of self-publishing, there's growing to be less and less...

Should dialogue and action be split by a period or a comma?

oh, definitely not. I've not had a complaint yet. But I'm gearing up to posting some of my completed novels for sale, so I've been considering some of these smaller matters of editing. And the only reason I was even thinking of this comma/period matter is that Grammarly has begun pinging it as...

Should dialogue and action be split by a period or a comma?

that makes sense and is what I've seen most professional authors do. But it's always felt weird for me to write that way. but again, just my personal preference.

Should dialogue and action be split by a period or a comma?

I used to, but my wife had a cow over it. Her teachers called it a "Complex sentence", so it's both one total sentence and two individual sides to it. A run on covers multiple individual thoughts, which it could be. And I do understand writing is ever-evolving and changing, as any artform...

Should dialogue and action be split by a period or a comma?

So, I was always taught MLA formatting and while I've strayed pretty far, some things I was taught about it, I still use. This had a standard of a single tab (or five spaces, if tab doesn't work) before each paragraph, specific source citation formatting, etc. Under this, I was taught that in a...

Writing Prompt reincarnated as twins - one person becomes two people.

My thought when I wrote it wasn't so much two people with the same memories, but one person actively controlling each twin. Like one gamer with two monitors. But sure, however you'd want to write it if you want to.

    Audible AI Narration

I found one a while ago that was at least mid-quality. But with proper tweaking, the only thing missing was the audible breaths that you hear but don't really pay attention to from a human speaker. It could take direction for more emotional pinpointing, you could use different voices, so you'd...

Writing Prompt reincarnated as twins - one person becomes two people.

another one what? I just toss up ideas to whoever wants 'em when my plate is full. I've got a list of over 50 right now that I'm slowly making my way through, and obviously I keep the best for myself.

I'll take a look. I haven't seen any stories on this site, but I do know of one with a similar basis from some dragon site, after googling after I posted it. though that one was about one of the twins being abandoned, and from what I read, the guy isn't both, just one of the twins.

Writing Prompt reincarnated as twins - one person becomes two people.

well, I make no secret of being a smut writer, so that IS my original thought. I'd say incestual masturbation...? :blob_unsure:

Writing Prompt reincarnated as twins - one person becomes two people.

I haven't seen them. And I know it's not original. But I hadn't set any particular borders. I figure whoever wants to use it could decide. I'd personally go for mirror twins, as my step-dad and his brother are mirror twins.

Writing Prompt reincarnated as twins - one person becomes two people.

So, my plate is full with my current story and the other two I'm actively working on and the twelve that I've got on the back burner, but I just had this idea. someone else is welcome to take it if anyone wants it. The premise: "I was reincarnated as twins in another world." So...

    how to acquire more readers

how do you tell if your series is shadowbanned? Because my series doesn't show up in "latest updates" until it's on the 2nd or 3rd page, then it shows up like it's been there all along. It's a little irritating, but I know this happens to a number of other authors as well.

For a sci-fi story; technical info request?

yup. And I'd say Sci-Fi is taking technicalities and running with it into wild possibilities. So if water bears can survive, then it's within the realm of science fiction to say "Under the same principle, these massive beasts can survive too." Doesn't have to make sense, as long as it has a...

For a sci-fi story; technical info request?

water bears can survive in the vacuum of space. Also, with living ships, my first thought was the biological ships in No Man's Sky. I believe the lore there is that they're fed o2 by the same system that feeds into the livable area for the player. That, or it was that they are more plantlike in...
