Him being unable to read lies or halfway master people is the only plot hole really afaik But maybe it's a peculiarity of Taylor's power, since Sylar thinks of thinks of things mechanically, like a watchman, and thus unable to understand people.

He could be a good scientist and we'd never known. He'd still be unable to track evos himself. He could not run for president as a known serial killer and if he was to take on another identity, why not become a senator or the president directly?

It made me think of why Sylar is not a tinker/thinker; I realized that in the original show he didn't need to be. He could very well be a thinker and a lot of things made a lot more sense when he was. He could easily understand how tech worked but there weren't tinkers in story.

The author wrote a thinker and it's feels very clever. I do not read this kind of literature with a pencil, however Taylor sounds very smart and her social manipulations are awesome to read.

And also reading Intuition by the same author of Skittering Thief. Although the ending of the latter has disappointed me, this one is very very good so far. Taylor is not overpowered yet. She has Sylar's powers (and Sylar as a loving uncle, which is quite funny and adds an interesting dynamic to...
