What is your strengths and weaknesses as a writer?

I yap too much about things readers won't care about. There's so much chaff sometimes in my story that the main plot disappears. I reread my manuscripts and sometimes I forget what my overarching plot even was. Oh, right. MC entered the academy to outshine his older brother. Why did I yap on for...

3 Versions of 1 (Repost from author general)

Thanks for the prompt. It did get my imagination grinding gears but I'm too lazy to write an actual response.

    Asking for beta readers?

Yup. Don't like it when people do that. Asking for honest opinions is fine.

Does a story need a theme?

I obviously didn't mean non-fiction authors when I said that. That said, alright. Basically people who write pedagogical stories / nonfiction, or tell chat-gpt to write stories for them start with a preconceived idea, or theme. But so does anyone who writes a story with an idea starts with a...

Does a story need a theme?

I still don't know what theme means. It's clearly not what everyone assume what theme means, because no one starts writing their story with a core-message in mind which basically amounts to a corny-quote, or likes having their story summarized into a single sentence.

    New Ideas

Something you wrote could be brimming with meaning and significance one day and the next day be dead and dull. When that happens, don't panic and learn to appreciate what you wrote in silence. Music will come in time. You're going to find your 'main story' a cardboard cut-out eventually, but...

Reading the synopsis is this an interesting story?

It was my childhood hype game. Second Sons was the coolest thing ever along with prototype.

How to explain a complex power system.

I hope you ask yourself if your worldbuilding is actually complex, like life, and not complicated, like a jet-engine with all its parts. If its complex, then you can just tell it how it is and people will read it. If its complicated, then don't even bother. No one wants to know, even if its...

cover transformation for EARTH TO VENUS

Surreal computerized artstyle. The overexposed vibrant fx and soft shading suits it imo. I like it.

What do you consider to be reasonable price for a novel

I've spend 150$ USD on a non-fiction book before (paperback was half-price but I wanted it in hardcover), but I doubt I'll ever spend that much on a physical fiction novel. Thankfully, most aren't expensive. I don't mind spending 50$ on a novel, but I'll only do that if the story deeply moved...
