I like to write on my phone in my comfy bed surrounded by my stuffies and blanket :3 its cozy. And when I write a scene that makes me go "SQUEE OMGGG" I can bury my face in my pillow!

Its a hard pick but I'd have to say I probably liked writing the very first scene of my story the most... It's got my four main characters in it acting like goofy teenagers, and sure it's not a perfect scene, but the vibes and the sequence of events sets up the rest of the story in a way that...

I have a decent backlog I'm putting in the "scheduled" tab for my story, and I was just curious if the wordcount for a story on your "create" tab shows the total wordcount INCLUDING unreleased sheduled chapters, or if it EXCLUDING those?

So I've been writing stories for a few years, but usually I don't manage to finish my stories due to burnout or losing interest in the story itself. Despite this I've had one story that I've been writing for roughly a year, on and off, and it strangely never gets old for me. I can go back to it...

Honestly I'm mostly curious about how short a story can be while still being satisfying. I'm on my 10th 2k word chapter for a story, and feel I'm probably around a third of the way through writing it? I just wonder if that's too short.

So as an author there's something I've always been uncertain of... how long should a story be to be satisfying? As a reader, how many words would you say makes for a good read?

The only time I write past tense is during a flash back sequence, as its a fun nod to the event having already transpired. I always write stories in present tense, as writing in past tense just doesn't make logical sense when you're describing events as they happen.

For full transparency, I have two creatures with the same abilities that enable them to really change the way the world works around them, but one of them is going to be born from evil/greed/malice, and the other is born from hope/generosity/love.

To be honest the two protagonists are very distant (think across a few portals worth of distance) so they don't interact directly for a good while in the story. I basically have two protagonists with similar abilities but different morals and motives.

I've had some ideas for "Dungeon Core" type narratives, but one issue that I keep running into is wanting to have both the violent intensity of man versus monster *and* the more peaceful diplomacy between sentient monsters and human kind. My question isn't how to mesh the two, the question is...

In my opinion romance needs something to go with it, like some kind of fantasy or magic or monsters or just SOMETHING actually pressing... otherwise it can kind of feel low stakes most of the time. Not always true, but just usually.

I suppose I could always omit anything too intimate and maybe post it someplace else for those who *really* want to read, but I'd prefer sticking to the realm of adult writing rather than smut.

Almost all of my stories are roughly PG-13, but I have dabbled in adult stories... but the question is when does writing go from being adult writing to straight up porn? I want to write something for the story, but including sexual scenes without making it porn. Any tips?
