Hard Decisions: Stopping my first novel to master the craft. What do you think?

Do it. I took small breaks to write smaller stories that forced me to focus on where I lacked. Just don't spend so much time honing that you lose track of your main story.

    What are SH writers reading?

Nice. I'll let you know once I am done. No offense to Sanderson but most of the plots that I've been told about(cosmere and such) don't intrigue me very much so I have a very low expectations.

    What are SH writers reading?

I've been reading through my library to justify more books so currently I am reading through Undeceptions by C.S. Lewis and then I intend to read either Scythe or The Way of Kings to get my friend to shut up about it once I finish.

Are books on writing any good?

Some are good for learning techniques and understanding grammar but not all are good for understanding how you write.

How many chapters before you read?

I wait at least 15-30 chapters depending on the size of the chapters or wait until completed. BE NOT AFRAID. I will read your chapters and give hopeless feedback. [Closed but if you send it, I might re-open]

The second one I gave was a one shot that I gave so you had options.

Tips in keeping consistency in editing.

That is completely fair. Also, that is an insane price.

    What would you do?

I would go to my wife and tell her a homeless furry broke into our apartment. Then ask if I can use lethal force or if I should just call the police.

Tips in keeping consistency in editing.

Editing killed my desire to write. My suggestion would be to make a goal of editing 1 page a day. Maybe get an accountability partner to read through it after you edit each page. It will eventually get done. Hiring an editor can be expensive so I would avoid it until you've edited a few drafts...
