How the heck to market a story?

Thats the problem. For every person who says "don't batch drop X chapters", someone else says do. I'm so confused. My thought was to provide 11 chaps up front (as that is essentially "the prologue") and then 1 chap 3x a week.

How the heck to market a story?

I don't want a pat on the back. I want actionable advice that doesn't involve shredding two years of tears. Oh, excellent, now Random Internet Guy is an armchair psychiatrist *and* international intellectual property lawyer. What's next, astronaut?

    Yeah, I've dealt with those.

How the heck to market a story?

Thanks. Yeah, I get it. The difference with Jojo's Bizarre is when they dropped 12 episodes, they didn't then have 350 more to drop every day after that.

I'm posting *everywhere* I can think of - including in various and sundry Reddit cesspools.

Thank you for actually trying to provide something to assist instead of just telling me to accept my gruel and be grateful.

How the heck to market a story?

I struggle to believe that half of those aren't bots and spiders. I have invested hundreds of hours, have a discord, and have put thousands of dollars into the story. Look at all the crickets I was able to buy with it.

How the heck to market a story?

My story is on ALL of those platforms - except Tapas where I would have to post 4-5 chapters to 1 because of their asenine character limits per chapter.

How the heck to market a story?

Almost like "find a way to market" was the LITERAL SUBJECT OF THIS THREAD before the entire braintrust told me "the problem is you wrote the wrong story and you should feel grateful that your story almost sold out a Taco Bell"

How the heck to market a story?

The fact that I am here is every proof that this is a lie. False. All of Echo was dropped at once. They do it both ways.

How the heck to market a story?

I just don't fathom that. Disney Plus and Netflix drop their whole series at once. Some people binge it. Some people watch slower. But nobody says "8 episodes? I'm out." Managing multiple platforms on different schedules is unmaintainable. The difference is that your green ogre-shaped TV will...

How the heck to market a story?

Getting decent on AO3 - Wattpad and FFN are ghost towns. So are Royal Road, WebNovel, Inkitt, Neobook, QuoteV... If 350 is good for SH, why the hell is anybody here? That's nobody. I have a personal connection to the character. Ranma saved my life when I was a kid. I know I can file the...

How the heck to market a story?

Sure. Let me go sprinkle in a bunch of vampire dicks. Apparently that's the secret. My audience would fit on a bus.

How the heck to market a story?

Webnovel has been even worse. And they also actively make fanfic second class citizens, as does Royal Road, Inkitt and Neobook. My plan for the repost is dropping 11 chapters on day one (Saturday, timed with the reboot of the Ranma 1/2 anime) to give people something to hook into, and then one...

How the heck to market a story?

That was when I was catching the story up with other platforms. I do daily drops pretty consistently and I get crickets. 2-3 comments a chapter. I am getting ready to do a massive repost of the whole thing, from the beginning, with remastered content, and not break it up into multiple works...

How the heck to market a story?

Ah. So let me see if I get this right: 1. Make it suck. 2. Give up. 3. *Add some details.* On a 900,000 word epic that left canon behind in chapter 2 and has a cast of more than 50 original characters. 50k views means nothing with 100 chapters. Yay, I managed to tickle the fancy of Google's...

How the heck to market a story?

I'm not trying to earn. I'm trying to get people to f***ing read it. The story stands alone with no canon knowledge required whatsoever. "Have you tried writing a different 24-year project" is.... not exactly the most helpful advice.

How the heck to market a story?

Everywhere I go across the internet, you can't advertise a fanfic. You can't promote. You're not allowed on the trending lists. You're penalized in the algorithm. I follow every suggestion and marketing tip out there. I do daily drops. I have consistent 5 star reviews. I have nearly a million...
