Yesterday I noticed the downspouts were clogged but it was raining like crazy. I told myself I'd take the downspout off and try to break up the clog with an auger. The weather was nice. When I got off work I was really tired to just took a nap and listened to a book about a space skeleton. After napping, I notice that it is raining again...

There is such a thing as being too accurate to the setting. For example, if I wanted a story based in 1611 I could use the way they spelled at the time.

EX:

There was an old movie called spookies that had a scene where they find a ouiji board that the group of lost people find in the abandoned mansion in the middle of nowhere. They were playing it like a game and it starts to get scary so they take their hands off of it and it moves on its own. I thought that part was one of the scariest things I've ever seen in a movie.

I liked the first few parts of Foundation by Isaac Asamov but because it is episodic it sorta feels more like a collection of loosely connected short stories than a series.

Some of the logic for WW1 is chilling.
Austria Hungary causalities 1.6 million in one year
Russia Causalities 1 million in one year.

Conclusion: This is a winning strategy because Germany and Austria Hungry will run out of people first.

Random musings: Something about the completionist series really bugged me. Early on, if an NPC gives a quest but can't provide the reward they get turned into an instant dungeon to provide the rewards. However, there is a betrayal arc where a love interest betrays the MC for access to a legendary building that she'll get after they secure a town that the MC captured.

Thinks that an NPC putting a bounty on a player is dumb. Players can respawn. If NPCs can't respawn all they are doing in signing their own death warrant. Yeah, they may be strong and rich but attackers advantage. A defender has to cover every avenue of attack but an attacker only needs to find the one that works.

Ritualist is a fun story but the world building is poop. For someone who claims to be a programmer the author doesn't try very hard to make the video game world seem like a video game world. Suspension of disbelief level to enjoy very high.
